President's Message

Greetings Rotarians!

As promised by the weather-experts, the sun is shining and the temperatures are finally above freezing!  That means we will be back to an in-person meeting this Thursday.  Our speaker is still "to be determined" ... I have some District update info to provide so hopefully everyone can attend.  I'll be sending out our normal Zoom link tomorrow.

For those of us that participated in the Suburban Rotary Club's Zoom meeting last week, we were able to hear Rotary International's Chair for the Polio Plus program.  Rotary's efforts in eradicating polio are truly amazing ... world-wide polio cases decreased from over 480,000 in 1980 to less than 100 in 2016.  If you are interested, Rotary 14 in Lincoln will have former Senator Chuck Hagel as their speaker (today at 5:30).  Here is the link: https://bit.ly/358ioxK Meeting ID: 402 413 8597 Password: 661910  The "Zoom" room opens at 5:00 PM.  Hope to see you Thursday!

Thanks ... Tod

From the Secretary's desk...Here's an excerpt from an article I recently came across: 50 Things Every Rotarian Should Know About Rotary

https://www.rotaryeclubone.org/makeups/articles/50thingseveryrotar/

# 50 - Object of Rotary
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
