SPEAKER FOR THIS WEEK - ROB ROBINSON

Rob Robinson

Rob Robinson, CEO  of RobSeeCo will be our speaker on  May 30th, hosted by Rita Kleeman.
PRESIDENT JUDY
Hopefully, all of you received the email from Tom Cardwell about the upcoming District Conference.  I had no idea, until reading the email, that it is the District Governor’s job to make sure the conference stays within budget.  And, if it doesn’t, the DG has to cover the shortfall.  The more Rotarians who attend the conference, the more likely the conference will meet budget.  This year’s conference in Nebraska City will be full of great speakers and awesome activities, not only for Rotarians, but also for families.  Let’s represent our Club well at the District Conference!

Sent: Saturday, May 25, 2019 1:08 PM
To: Judith Ackland <judith@Crystalfinsol.com>
Subject: Families can enjoy Northeast Nebraska / Rotarians attend Rotary Leadership Institute

We have planned another session of Rotary Leadership Institute - this time it is away from urban Nebraska and Iowa.

Members can plan a road trip with a spouse, family or friends to visit Northeast Nebraska as they attend Rotary Leadership Institute.

Visit unique shops and participate in the activities in Norfolk and Wayne areas.

Please share with all members at your meetings and in your newsletters.

RLI Event Details:
June 15, 2019
8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Norfolk - Elkhorn Valley Museum

We are offering Part 1 only.

Register at www.rli-heartland.org (you will need to set up a logon ID)

We realize this is relatively short notice - it took time to determine the interest and then reserve a facility.

Leadership is not a Position, Leadership is Action!

Rotary Leadership Institute is an experience - allowing you to learn more about Rotary. The more you know - the more you will enjoy and appreciate Rotary.

Rotary Leadership Institute is for everyone and anyone. The curriculum is designed using the learning spiral with sessions building on previous topics and experiences. Click here for the brochure.

Sign up yourself - you will be a more effective leader for your Rotary Club.
Nominate members - they will naturally become more engaged because they will have a richer Rotary experience.

Rotary Leadership Institute is a facilitated program with active participation - no lecturing. Topics important to Rotary Clubs and Members such as Effective Service Projects, Membership Engagement, and understanding The Rotary Foundation are explored. You will discuss real challenges and exchange ideas.

Testimonial from a recent participant: RLI was a great opportunity to explore Rotary - really learn about this vast organization. This is the first time I truly understood that Rotary was not just about my Club - it extends beyond to other communities, states and the world. I feel that I can truly help my club with programs now that I have participated in RLI.

MINUTES OF JUNE 6 MEETING
WDC Rotary Club
Meeting Minutes 6/6/19
We were led in prayer and pledge by Roger Bettmann
We had 16 members present.
Treasurer’s report:  Rita and reported a balance of $4,746.72 in the general fund.
Announcements/discussion:
  • Jim reported, at the suggestion of the District, that we make a slight change to our Rotary Foundation Grant request on behalf of COPE.  The District wanted the grant to be utilized for a more specific need at COPE.  COPE is in need of three new computers for their offices.  The motion was made, seconded and passed that our grant be used for this purpose.
  • The Rotary Scholarship Golf Outing is now just a week away on June 17th.   It’s not too late to sign up to play…but it’s getting there…
  • Ron reported that Del Morgan was just a few dollars short of becoming a Paul Harris Fellow.  A quick collection was taken to help get Del over the hump.  The club also voted to make Del an official honorary member of our club.  Congratulations Del!
  • Ron pointed out that our club membership numbers have declined this year.  If all club members could recruit one new member, this would help tremendously!
  • For your calendar:  We will not have a meeting on 6/20 due to the golf event that week or on 7/4 due to the holiday.
Presentation:
Mike Ough told tales of the sea and pictures from he and his wife’s recent cruise which departed from Boston and included several ports of call throughout the Northeast, such as Bar Harbor, Halifax and Quebec City.
Thanks, Mike, for sharing

Winning ticket holder and white ball winner was Ron Mortensen
