THURSDAY SPEAKER - LT JASON SCOTT NSP
LT Jason Scott is with the Nebraska State Patrol  who will speak to us on crime enforcement, including drug crimes.
PRESIDENT MIKE'S UPDATE
Our Rotary Golf event is July 9th (Monday) so get your team & sponsors turned asap. Remember more teams & sponsors help funding our scholarships much better. Question for this Thursday morning meeting: since we normally don’t meet the Thursday following our golf outing, do we “slip” the July 12th OR “slip” July 5th the day after The Fourth?

SECRETARY DAN'S REPORT
Meeting date: 6/7/2018
Minutes assembled by Ron Mortensen (don’t blame Dan)
Led in prayer & pledge by Jim Tomanek
Guest Rotarians:  Our speaker counts as a guest Rotary as she is a member of a Lincoln Club.  Also, from  Lincoln East was Paul Horton.  A guest with Paul was Larry Crouch of Omaha.
Treasurer report:   Balance $3,421.23
Jim handed out a flyer for COPE concerning a fund raising breakfast at Elkhorn Eagles on June 10 from 8:30 to noon.  Pancakes etc
Jim announced the Lunch Bunch meeting scheduled for noon at Shevy’s on June 13.
We are still looking for a member to volunteer to assist with operation of Club Runner and Newsletter.
Dan Fitzpatrick mentioned the July 9 golf outing and reminded us the need to purchase or renew hole sponsorships and to bring “Pin” prizes for the event  Raffle ticket packets will be handed out to members for purchase.  The list of current hole sponsors was circulated.
Scott Peter’s project in Haiti was mentioned with no official action and little discussion was held.
Our District Governor has made an appeal for hygiene supplies (I would assume he would accept financial support) for Magdalene Omaha/Thistle Lights which is a survivor-led program of healing, recovery, and economic empowerment for women who experienced sex trafficking/prostitution, abuse, and addiction.  (www.magadeleneomaha.org)   No club action was taken on this request so individual generosity would be encouraged.
Governor is also seeking host family for Taiwanese exchange student and donations for the Rotary International Rose Bowl float.
Prez Mike is hitting a peak with his periodic jokes.  Today it was about the three-legged chicken.  (Call Mike at midnight and he will tell you the rest of the joke)
Doug Cunningham introduced our speaker of the day, Jessica Koltermann, from Lincoln Premium Poultry (LPP).  Jessica was originally from Seward, Nebraska.
LPP was formed within the state of Nebraska by COSTCO to manage the development of a chicken production operation for COSTCO for a processing plant currently under construction in Fremont, Nebraska.  LPP will work with farmers, mostly in Nebraska to build facilities on their property to grow the millions of chickens that COSTCO will need.
Their current challenge is to help growers obtain necessary permits and approvals in order to construct their facilities, which will be owned by the farmers at the end of their 15 year contract.
Jessica discussed the water use and odor control issues which they feel to be odor free to neighbors at least 96 percent of the time.
