WELCOME ASHLEI!

ASHLEI GETS HER OFFICIAL WDC BADGE

JILL IS MOVING ON!

FAREWELL JILL

Jill is stepping down as our club Secretary and ultimately leaving our club as she pursues her duties at Creighton University, which includes traveling to such exotic places as the Dominican Republic.  She will have to change her head wear to a Sombrero or whatever Dominican Republic folks wear to fend off the intensive sunshine down there.  VIA CON DIOS

OUTLOOK NEBRASKA

OUTLOOK NEBRASKA

Established in 2000, Outlook Nebraska, Inc.’s mission is to positively impact everyone who is blind or visually impaired.  This mission stems from our desire to overcome the challenges the blind and visually impaired experience in finding gainful employment.  We achieve this mission through many means, but our primary service is employment, which is provided to the blind and visually impaired in an Omaha-based converting operation that supplies a full line of 100 percent recycled fiber content tissue and towel products to the U.S. Government and other customers.

The largest employer of the blind and visually impaired in Nebraska and the only agency of its kind in a seven-state region, ONI offers additional services for our associates and blind neighbors in our community, including social activities, education, technology and adaptive aids training, and health and wellness programs.

The vision of ONI is to be the premier provider of choice for exceptional employment, training, and experiences that allow the blind and visually impaired to realize their personal and career goals.

Outlook Nebraska, Inc. is a private, nonprofit agency qualified as a 501(c)3 organization under the Internal Revenue code and registered as a charitable corporation in the State of Nebraska. The organization operates under the Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) Act and the AbilityOne Program, which mandates the Federal government to provide preferred vendor status to agencies such as ONI who employ persons who are blind or have other significant disabilities.  As a result, in addition to empowering the blind and visually impaired to achieve independence and an increased quality of life.  ONI is an economic engine that brings valuable government business to the Omaha metro area.

ERIC STUECKRATH - OUTLOOK NEBRASKA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Eric "volunteered" when our scheduled speaker became a NO-SHOW!  Eric was attending our meeting as a visiting Rotarian from the Suburban Club.  Eric previously spoke to our club on the subject of their mission with the blind.

March 16 meeting discussion items
Our March 16 meeting opened with an invocation by Dan Fitzpatrick and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Eric Strueckrath, from Suburban Rotary, was welcomed as our guest.

Badge was awarded to Ashlei Johansen, who gave a brief bio afterwards.

Mike Ough announced his intent to serve as our Club President for the 2017-2018 Club Year.  Ron Mortensen will serve the remainder of Jill Muegge's term as Secretary and serve as Secretary for the forthcoming club year also.  "Retreads All!"

Jim Tomanek confirmed the Lunch Bunch meeting for the 2nd Wednesday in April which happens to be the 12th.  Jim also announced May 5th as the COPE Golf Event at Pacific Springs.

Rita announced her and Rolly's 45th wedding anniversary.

President Dan announced our speaker this morning ( in place of our second "No Show" this year) would be our visiting Rotarian, Eric Stueckrath, on the subject of the organization he leads, OUTLOOK NEBRASKA.
Acting Secretary Notes
Although I missed a meeting traveling to Florida on wonderful American Airlines, it seems as if a few members of our club haven't been in attendance recently.  I checked in with them and got some responses.

Gail is still recovering from his medical situation* but he is thinking seriously about fishing and showing up for a Rotary meeting, in that order of priority. (*HIPAA requires me to avoid discussing specifics and we don't want to get him started telling us about his aches and pains)

Linda says she has recovered mostly from her medical situation and continues to heal.  Hurry Back!

Jeannie Weaver is attending to her husband Jim in his treatment process.  Best wishes Jim.

SPECIAL NOTE:  If anyone is aware of any members who are under the weather, (nothing to do with our speaker from the  Weather Service this week), drop a note or mention something at a club meeting

I have found the Club Runner smart phone app to be quite valuable, I leave the application logged on full time and am able to use it as a quick reference when having "senior moments" trying to remember someone's last name or phone number.
