Greetings, Everyone!
I trust everyone had a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving weekend!
Remember to bring your gifts for COPE on Thursday or make arrangements with Jim to get them to him. If you have not been able to shop, Jim is happy to accept your check. Monetary donations allow COPE staff to supplement the donated items.
This past Friday, I had some time to look at the most recent issue of the Rotarian magazine. There were a couple of short, interesting stories about Rotary club fundraising efforts. A member of a club spent 20 days riding his bike to the International Rotary meeting in Canada, raising money for Polio plus. He picked 20 days in honor of the 20 new cases of polio this year. Riding the bike was enough of a challenge but, in addition, he pulled a rickshaw equipped with a recliner. Along the way, he invited folks to donate for the opportunity to join him by riding in the recliner. All of the money he raised was double matched by the Gates Foundation.
Another article highlighted a club who has an annual auction of a unique item to raise funds for scholarships. This year, they auctioned off the chance to push the button that would detonate the charges to blow up an old bridge that was going to be replaced. Check out the magazine for more information. 😊
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday!
