President's Message

Greetings Rotarians ...

Our big news is that after a 5-month hiatus, we had a very successful "1st meeting back" at Elkhorn Common Ground.  We will meet again this week (Thursday, August 6th at 7:00 AM). Please mark your calendar and make an effort to attend in person, if possible. We will also continue to have a "ZOOM" option.  Our annual golf outing was a great success and I want to again thank Mike and all of our volunteers for making it happen.  We were also notified that Western Douglas County Rotary was the Small Club recipient of the District 5650 "Disaster Relief Effort" award for the year. This award highlighted our COPE Beef and Flood Assistance projects ... congratulations to all involved!  Let's continue this momentum, grow our club and do more great things this year ... Hope to see you Thursday!

Tod

SECRETARY REPORT
Below are the minutes from last week's meeting (July 30th)

WDC Rotary's in-person 7:00 AM meeting was held on July 30th, with 9 members in attendance and Larry Johansen joining us via ZOOM.

President Tod welcomed everyone back to Common Ground, Dave provided our Opening Prayer and all joined in the Pledge of Allegiance.  A "round-robin" discussion enabled all in attendance to share their own personal update of activities since we last met in person.

Treasurer's Report:  Account balance is $15,948.53.  District 5650 semi-annual dues of $902.20 have been paid

Membership / Scholarships / Public Relations: No new information

Back-Pack Donation:  A vote was taken to authorize $300 for the annual "Backpack" fund raiser.  As in past years, Jim Tomanek will coordinate the purchase and delivery of the backpacks, to be donated to needy students.

Bike Grant: A donation of $300 has been pledged by Gail and an additional $100 pledged by Tod.  Members are urged to contact Gail to donate (gailstalder@msn.com) ... we need $1,000 before we can purchase the bike.

Golf Outing:  Total Revenue:  $9,080. Thirteen teams participated, plus twenty hole sponsors donated $2,500 to the event.  Raffle tickets ($400), split-the-pot (half of $245), mulligan purchases ($920) and silent auction ($200) revenue contributed significantly to the event's financial success. Net profit of over $5,500 is expected, after expenses

Awards:  WDC Rotary Beef/Flood Relief efforts were recognized by District 5650

Meeting Presentation:  Judy summarized the District 5650 Annual Conference and shared a Power-Point presentation that highlighted our club's yearly activities and award-winning Disaster-Relief Beef Project

Next regular in-person meeting will be this Thursday, at Common Ground (7:00 AM - August 6th).  ZOOM tele-broadcast will be available for those not able to attend in person (separate email invite to follow)
