Greetings Rotarians and Friends of Rotary! At this Thursday's meeting, we will be having a special St. Patty's Day Rueben Sandwich lunch, courtesy of Jim Tomanek and company. Come hungry and wear green! In addition, I will be sharing a slideshow about our recent trip to southwest Florida, where we witnessed the ongoing recovery efforts associated with last year's Hurricane Ian. Next week (March 23) we will be hosting Dan Harrington of Main Street Cellars. This will be a wine-tasting and hors d'oeuvres event ... spouses and friends are invited. A special thanks to Gretchen Bren for last week's Polio Plus presentation. Gretchen is the Polio Plus coordinator for District 5650 and a member of Omaha Night Rotary. Gretchen shared stories and a slideshow about her 15 international trips where she administered the polio vaccine to children in at-risk nations. Rotary's short-term goal is to raise $50 million in order to obtain a 2-for-1 match from the Gates Foundation. The long-term goal is the world-wide eradication of the wild polio virus by 2026. This week, we will also be conducting our scholarship interviews with students from the three Elkhorn high schools. DC West interviews will follow at a later date. Our annual recognition event will be a noon luncheon this year, at a date to be determined. Thanks ... see you Thursday! Tod |
