Cindy Van Bibber - Omaha National Cemetery

Cindy Van Bibber - Director of Omaha National Cemetery gave us a presentation on the cemetery which went into initial operation the Fall of 2016.  Cindy was appointed as the starting director by the Veterans Administration in September of 2015 and directed the initial construction required to become operational.

The cemetery is available to all veterans who served on activity duty in the uniform services.  Cindy made printed information on the details and more information can be obtained on the Veterans Administration and Omaha National Cemetery web sites.

Cindy explained the procedures for services on the day of internment.  There is a facility for internment services elsewhere on the site and away from the grave site.  The internment is by appointment and one half hour is allowed for those services, following which attendees are encourage to leave the cemetery and not visit the grave until later in the day when all other services have been completed and the graves have been covered.  This is required because multiple graves are opened to handle all internments for the day.

Cindy had posters available showing what the cemetery will look like when completed. The cemetery is projected to handle requirements for one hundred years.
