The meeting was opened with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Rita reported $10,476.86 in the treasury, and Jim Tomanek reminded the group that there is NO lunch bunch next week due to Thanksgiving. The next Lunch Bunch will be held on Nov. 18th at Shevy's.
The Rotary Christmas Party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13th at 6PM at the Holiday Inn Express. More details to follow, but for now please mark your calendars!

Jim Tomanek introduced a favorite speaker back by popular demand - Rich Berggren of the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission. Rich is one of only 46 game wardens in the state of Nebraska, and the only one serving Douglas County so he keeps very busy. He spends time with 4-H groups, youth hunts, conducting game and parks surveys, working with law enforcement agencies, and much, much more. This time of year he sees many cases involving turkeys and deer inside the city. During the summer months there is a lot of tubing activity on the Elkhorn river which requires much of his time. Approximately 750-1000 people per day tube the river during the high season. He reminded us that any vessel floating the river must have a life jacket, so don't tube without one!
Rich regaled us with many entertaining "dumb criminal" stories and photos. The moral of the stories was "Don't break the law. And if you do, don't be stupid about it. And definitely don't post it to Facebook."
our club will be ringing the Salvation Army Red Kettle bell on November 23rd, 24th, and 25th at the Family Fare grocery store located at 204th & Pacific Street. A signup sheet will be provided beginning November 5th, we will be ringing from 10:00AM to 8:00PM each day
We picked up another load of bicycles last week, which upon repair, will give us enough bicycles to haul to points North or Northeast (pick your Tribe) with Jim Tomanek's truck and trailer and his gasoline if we don't have any donors to chip in for gas. The adjacent picture features Dan Hill, Owner of Bike Masters Bicycle Shop on 130th and Fort Street. Dan has donated two truck loads of bikes so far and still has a few in storage. These are all used bikes in excellent condition that Dan's customers have donated. If any Rotarians are looking for a good new bike for children or grandchildren for Christmas, Give Bike Masters your consideration.

Ordinarily, the LUNCH BUNCH meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. For the month of November, there will be only one meeting and that is on the 18th at Shevy's. The usual meeting dates, November 11 and November 25 are canceled because of Veteran's Day on the 11th and Thanksgiving Week and bell ringing on the 25th.
For Veterans in our club, Cal Hinz has suggested that we meet at HyVee on 180th and Pacific at 8:30 AM on the 11th to participate in their complimentary breakfast and swap sea stories and war stories. You know the stories; peeling potatoes at Fort Riley, Kansas or swabbing decks on a ship in the Caribbean Sea.
Judy Cline of the Suburban Rotary Club will attend our November 12th meeting to give us brief information about the Omaha metro Rotary networking event. She will also give the date, time and location of the event.
