WDC Rotary Club
Meeting Minutes 5/2/19
We were led in prayer and pledge by Jim Tomanek
We had 16 members present and thankfully the ladies returned.
Treasurer’s report:  $2,676.66 was the balance in general fund as of 5/2.   The special grant fund remains at $725.   Almost half way to our goal of $1,500
Announcements/discussion:
  • Judy shared her “Member Moment” with us. She did a “BOOtiful” job.
  • Tod & Judy attended the EHS and ESHS scholarship breakfasts last week as the Club’s representatives.   Jim mentioned that he will be doing the same at the DC West scholarship breakfast next week.  Hard to believe another school year is coming to a close!
  • The Rotary Scholarship Golf Outing is June 17th.  All club members are encouraged to purchase $20 of raffle tickets and to supply Mike Ough with at least one item for the raffle/pin prize stash.  Hole sponsors also play a major part in the fundraising effort.
Presentation:
Neil introduced Herb Hames, who bore a strong resemblance to our speaker from the prior week.  Herb has been a volunteer for CWS of Omaha, Inc., and serves as the Secretary of the Executive Committee.  Herb spoke about the history of the CWS, now in its 70th year at Omaha.  He shared several stories and gave us a nice inside look into the organizational aspects of the CWS, as well as letting us know about this year’s activities and new attractions.

Ball Drawing:  Mike Ough had the winning ticket.  Drawing results were unattained by the scribe.
