Club member Jeff Carstens introduced Coach Marlon Brink at our April 4 club meeting.  Also speaking was Michaela Dendinger, who is a 5th year Senior and an All American.  Jeff noted this is Marlon's 18th season at WSC and has 7 NSIC Championships under his belt.

Marlon noted he has about 60 athletes. The majority are from Nebraska and Iowa. However, other places represented include Kenya, France, Florida, and Texas.  Marlon told us about his staff and volunteers.

His teams are men and women combined. Generally Cross Country runs from September through November; Indoor Track from December through March, and Outdoor Track from March through May.  Marlon noted the ultimate goal is to do well at the NSIC Championship.  Updated facilities include the indoor and outdoor tracks with a new press box being currently constructed, a weight room, and shot put ring, hammer cage, and discus area.

Marlon has an impressive record at WSC.  Some records include: Katie Wilson 2008 Outdoor - Shot; Sara Wells - 2015 Indoor/Outdoor Shot; Michaela Dendinger - 1027 Outdooor Shot.  Marlon's students preform well on the academic level as well.  Marlon noted some of the volunteer work his students did for our community.

Michaela is a Hartington High School graduate and is from Coleridge. She intends to go into Occupational Therapy.  Michaela has a very impressive record.
