Jason Heitz spoke to our club on June 5.  He is the outgoing Jr./Sr. High Principal at Wakefield Schools (He has resigned to become the Sr. High principal at York, NE).  He told us that half of the high school, 200 population, is Hispanic.  Many of the new students have few academic skills and may be placed in a 7th grade class to learn basic English, math, etc.  He mentioned there were 45 in kindergarten this year and 60+ in pre-K.  Home Economics, industrial arts, and CTE (career tech education) are very welcomed classes for the newcomers.  He said the Wakefield Schools pride themselves in making a positive, comfortable atmosphere in which the new students as well as the current ones can grow and thrive.

Heitz was introduced by club member Jack Imdieke.
