   The Wayne Rotary Club currently meets at Tacos & More at 509 Dearborn Street every Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m.  Present dues are $40 each quarter which are paid to the club Treasurer and cover the cost of the subscription to the monthly magazine THE ROTARIAN.  Each member of the club is placed on the program committee with several other members for a month.  During the assigned month, it is the responsibility of those assigned to:
1.  Find a program or speaker for each meeting during the month;
2.  Give the editor of the weekly Rotarama their speaker list for publication;
3.  Introduce the speaker at the meeting.  The club is responsible for the speaker's breakfast.
   The club has several fundraising projects during the year which support the scholarships, club functions, any international students that are staying with the club for the year, and the community service projects that involve Rotary.  The main fundraiser is the annual Potato Bake in February.  One of the major projects Wayne Rotary Club supports is the TeamMates program.  This is a mentoring program which works with selected children for one hour a week during the school year.
   We also host foreign exchange students and Vocational Team Training (VTT) members.  Wayne State Scholarships are awarded to a Wayne High School graduate and to a Wayne State College Rotaract member each year.
   One of our most fulfilling projects has been giving away dictionaries to 3rd grade students attending the Wayne schools plus schools in nearby communities.  Other projects include Salvation Army bell ringing, assisting the Chamber of Commerce with the Chicken Show barbeque and shuttle service, helping with the Wayne County Fair parking one night, and hosting a Jr. High Cross Country meet.
   As a method of fundraising, the club has developed a "fine" system.  A "happy dollar" ($1.00) is donated to the club treasury for forgetting your pin, for having your name/picture in the paper, a birthday, wedding or Rotary Club anniversary, and not returning your name badge to the box.  This money is used to help pay club expenses or projects.
   The club also has a weekly voluntary drawing.  A ticket can be purchased for $1.00.  The money is divided equally between the club and the winning ticket holder.  This money is also used to help support The Rotary Foundation.
