BOB'S BLURB ABOUT BOBS
     BOB GAIR

This meeting of Northwest Omaha Rotary honor Bob Gair, inventor of the cardboard box.

Think about where we would be today without the cardboard box. Bob Gair was a printer and maker of paper bags in Brooklyn in 1890 when an accidental shift of a ruler cut a paper bag. He found that by binding the paper together he could create a folded carton. A native of Scotland, Bob Bair had a long association with a British packaging company that successfully marketed his invention.

The pioneering American grocery chain The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company used his cardboard box to package cereal. This increased shelf life and eliminated the problem of larva and insects in bulk cereal.

Bob Gair also made corrugated boxes for shipping. He grew his business into a cardboard box empire that encompassed several Brooklyn buildings. He died in 1927 on his 88th birthday.
VIRTUAL DISTRICT CONFERENCE - JULY 25, 2020

DOUBLE VALUE OF YOUR ROTARY FOUNDATION DONATION
For this year’s District Conference, we are offering the most generous point match we have ever offered.

We will match one point for every dollar you give, up to $1,000. Offer will run through Sunday 7-26 at 11:59 PM.

This can move you ahead up to 2 levels on the Paul Harris Fellow ladder. Or, at the $1,000 giving level, you can choose to use the points to name any other person a Paul Harris Fellow. Your spouse, your friend, another Rotarian, or any living person can be a Paul Harris Fellow, thanks to your generous $1,000 donation.

Just make a gift to the Rotary Foundation with your registration*, or anytime during the District Conference, to be eligible for the bonus points. We’re hoping to break the record for Foundation donations during the District Conference, so don’t miss your chance to help us make some history!

*Can't participate in the conference? You can still take advantage of this generous offer. Use the same Registration link and make the appropriate selections. The offer will run through Sunday 7-26 at 11:59 PM.
