The speaker at the January 8, 2019, Rotary meeting was Lydee Jo Krueger, Senior Account Manager/Promotions Director at US92. She has worked for US92 for 14 years and has seen many changes, including adding a second radio station and NCN TV. She has worked hard to connect with area communities, especially when it comes to the annual St. Jude Radiothon. This year’s radiothon will take place at the US92 studios on February 21 and 22, 2019.

St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital is located in Memphis, Tennessee to care for and provide hope for children with serious and catastrophic diseases. Danny Thomas started the hospital on February 4, 1962. US92 has participated with annual radiothons since 2001. The first radiothon raised $18,000. Last year’s radiothon raised $260,000. The overall total raised over the last 18 years has been $3,250,000. The Northeast Nebraska area, including Norfolk, has the highest per capita giving households in the entire country for the annual event. “Country Cares for St. Jude Kids” is another organization that helps to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Randy Owen, from the group Alabama, has helped with this effort. The phone banks at US92 are manned by volunteers.
