Thank you to Bruce Jocks and Jane Dunn for working with the THS Interact Club to host their pancake breakfast this past Sunday! All proceeds are going to the Woodhaven & Trenton Animal Shelter. Several members attended, including Bill Jasman, Kathy Kane, myself, Ed and Alice Shenton. I'm sure there were others. Thanks for supporting the cause!
Please consider attending the Taylor Conservatory "Sweet Harvest" event this coming Wednesday evening, October 29th. Our club has supported this group the last few years and some of our Rotarians, including Bruce Jocks and Ronnie Ruelle, are involved with this fundraiser. In addition, the Taylor Rotary Elvis Night is this Saturday, November 1st. Our club has purchased a table of 10 so if you'd like to join big Elvis fans, Mike and Sherry McCullough, please let Ronnie know and she'll reserve a ticket or two for you. ***October is Vocational Services Month***
Vocational Service adds value to all areas of Rotary Service by supporting the projects and work of the other service committees. It does this by identifying ways in which the knowledge, skills and experience of Rotarians can be used to improve the outcomes of service projects.

Foundation Minute from Regional Rotary Foundation Chair PDG Neil McBeth
In an effort to promote global development and volunteer service, last May, Rotary and the Peace Corps agreed to participate in a one-year pilot program in the Philippines, Thailand, and Togo.
Under the agreement, Rotary clubs and Peace Corps volunteers are encouraged to share their resources and knowledge to boost the impact of development projects in these three countries.
Opportunities for collaboration include supporting community projects, training, networking, and community education.
Both organizations are committed to improving lives and building stronger communities by addressing the root causes of violence and conflict, such as poverty, illiteracy, disease, and lack of access to clean water and sanitation.
The two organizations also agreed to explore expanding the collaboration to more countries based on the results of the pilot. Rotary will enlist the support of its members in recruiting Peace Corps volunteers and involving returned Peace Corps volunteers in service projects at home.
An example is, in Togo, two Peace Corps volunteers teamed up with Rotary and other partners in the United States and Togo to distribute more than 5,000 soccer balls to disadvantaged youth. They are organizing 'More Than Just a Game' sessions, which use soccer as a medium to teach children about malaria prevention.
"It's just one example of how Rotary and Peace Corps can collaborate to achieve a lasting impact in the communities where they work."
Your donation to The Rotary Foundation enables this to happen.
