CLUB CORNER OF FUN
Our Fellowship Committee met this Wednesday and discussed upcoming events and some ideas for future events. Also discussed were some community projects and also fundraising.
The next upcoming community event we would like to get everyone involved in is Blanket Making for Salvation Army Angel Tree Gift Shop held in December. We will be meeting at Westfield Center Monday, October 7, 6:00 p.m. No skills required!!!! Lauren Jocks has graciously agreed to teach those who need help how to make these blankets. Please sign up at Mondays meeting or let me know if you want to attend. Bring scissors!!

Sunday, October 27, Westcroft Gardens, 5:00, Haunted Hayride will be happening. All Rotarians, along with spouses, friends, children and grandchildren are welcome to join in the hayride fun followed by a bonfire, smores and some games. November 8, Portofino Comedy Room, 7:30 p.m., Comedy Night featuring Tom McCarthy. Please join us for comedy and camaraderie on the river! November 16, Saturday, Westfield Center, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Bone Marrow Drive. We need 4-8 people to sign up for 2 hour shifts. The bone marrow drive needs donors ages 18 to 44. Please donate if you can and pass this information on to others. Help save a life!!

Secretary's Corner
It is with great regret that today (9/30) is Ken Egger's last meeting as a Trenton Rotarian. He is moving to the Fort Meyers, Florida area full time and we wish him and Lorraine well. Ken has been an 18 year Rotarian with the club. Although I will be at the Governor's Golf Outing on Monday, I will be emailing a letter to Ken that he can use for admittance into another club. Happy Monday Everyone
What a wonderful week in Rotary we just had! It started with DGE Noel Jackson giving us his vision of the Ghana Dental Clinic project he is spearheading. We all have learned over the years how important dental health is to overall health. This project will give the people in the area of Assin Fosu, Ghana, access to world class dentistry. Kudos to DGE Noel on coming up with such a fine project. Speaking of Noel, his Peace Chain Initiative has been going well. Several Rotarians also attended One Rotary Summit. This was a great opportunity to interact with other members of Rotary District 6400 as we were shown the importance of public image to foundation donations and club membership. This past Saturday also saw the packing of meals at the Fairlane Sunrise Club's Kids Coalition Against Hunger project. I heard of a few Trenton Rotarians going to this event, but I haven't heard any feedback. I'm sure it was as successful as this project usually is.
There are many exciting projects coming up for the club. We will be making blankets at the Westfield Center on Monday, October 7th. Please make every effort to attend as, you are aware, the more the merrier. Our goal is to make 50 blankets, which will be donated to the Salvation Army for Christmas gifts. Our Halloween Hayride is coming up on the 27th of October. Contact Jean Wloszek to reserve your spot. Space is limited. Outside of our club, the Detroit AM club is holding its third annual Urban Arts Tour on Sunday October 6th. This looks to be a very informative event. Let me know if you need more information.
For those that don't know, October 24th is World Polio Day. I will be passing along information on activities and fund raisers that other clubs are holding to celebrate this day. We, as a club, will be collecting donations throughout October. On a rather disappointing note, the Philippines, which had been polio free for nearly twenty years, recently confirmed that the poliovirus was found in two children. This shows you that our efforts to eradicate this disease need to remain strong until we finally wipe it off the face of the earth.
Make sure to join us at Monday's meeting, when Bob Burns gives us an update as to how things are shaping up on the Detroit River. In the meantime, continue to do the right thing. As we Rotarians continue to connect the world, let us remain true examples of the motto Service Above Self.

Hello Fellow Rotarians,
I’m Gianni Di Poce, a lifelong Trenton resident born to parents who immigrated over from Italy. My formal education was completed at University of Michigan-Dearborn, where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. This led to my current role as a financial advisor, but when I’m not in the office, I’m growing vegetables at my father-in-law’s backyard, and transforming it into a small-scale urban farm.
I joined Rotary in December of 2018 to become more involved in the local community. But it wasn’t until after I joined that I really learned about the global impact this organization has as well. I think one of Rotary’s greatest strengths is its ability to leverage action taken locally and translate it into having a greater impact worldwide.
I especially enjoy the club’s social gatherings and getting to know the other members. In my short time as a member, I’ve already met some great people and participated in awesome events.
