Club Survey Results
Back in May, 80 surveys were distributed to active Trenton Rotarians.  Of those surveys, 60%, or 48 surveys, were completed and returned.  Members checked the activities they were involved in during prior years and those activities they’re interested in going forward.  Having this information makes it possible to hand a list of interested Rotarians to the chairpersons of each committee so they can contact those members when they start planning for their event.
Additionally, some members filled in the comments section of the survey are here are some of those comments:
  • We're doing just fine
  • Looking forward to another great year
  • Club and leadership are doing a great job choosing things to be involved in
  • Engage new members to develop future leaders for our club
  • We are doing too much
  • Don’t burn members out; continue projects we are over the top successful with
  • Coordinate with a sister club to help them grow
  • Involve the community more in our programs, such as sponsorships to lessen the burden on new Rotarians and those on a budget
  • More involvement with youth exchange
  • More international projects
  • Find ways to get more involvement from all members, not just a few
  • Take a firmer stand on attendance
  • Get involved with more health initiatives
  • Help others less fortunate than us
  • More hands on activities, such as the food bank or a Christmas project
  • More communication in the newsletter about upcoming activities
  • A meeting for all members to bring their kids
  • Make sure projects remain meaningful
  • Nice addition with low cost and fun & fellowship events
We’ve taken these comments and suggestions into account and are working towards what we believe we can achieve.  You may notice a few of them already being addressed.  We will do the best we can without overdoing it.  Good information!  Thanks for participating!

Hello, Rotarians!

I won't be at Rotary today because Bill Jasman and I will be representing the Trenton Rotary Club and golfing in the District Governor's Golf Outing in South Lyon.  I believe Captain Rotary may be making an appearance there as well!  Bob Howey will lead the meeting for you.  Welcome to Dr. Wolf who will speak to you and share some of the book he's written called "The Gift is You".

It was nice to hear from our New Generations group last Monday: Gabby, Andrea and Michelle.  Gabby, Interact president, told us about the plans Interact has for this coming school year.  We'll be sure to share the upcoming events in the newsletter so you'll have a chance to participate.  Andrea Thorn, Trenton teacher, told us about the opportunities with the PAES program and hopefully some of our businesses can use the services her students offer.  Michelle Aldridge was in town on a break from her studies in Japan and it was so good for all of us to meet her and hear about what a Peace Fellow does. She'll hopefully come back when her program is complete to give us a full presentation!  How great to see what the next generation is doing to "Light up Rotary"!

I wanted to give a shout out to Wes Mator for his help with the Taste of Trenton!

A big thank you to John Howey and John Martenson for hosting our club golf outing at the Grosse Ile Country Club and dinner at John Howey's last Thursday.  There was a smaller group of golfers this year but it was a beautiful day to be on the golf course!  Some of us took longer than others to finish but we all seemed to have a good time!  John Howey made it back to his house early and got the grill going.  He and John Martenson grilled up some tasty burgers & dogs and along with the food others brought, we had a delicious dinner.  It was an enjoyable night of fun and fellowship with a wonderful view of the Detroit River.  It was great to just take it easy for a change!

Bill Jasman had a wonderful time in Brazil visiting with Gustavo and his family!  I'm hopeful that he'll have a nice presentation for us in the coming weeks.

The Murder Mystery is coming up in a couple weeks!  Please make sure to contact me or Noel if you're planning to attend.  The price per person is $35 and you can come with a team or we can assign you to a team.  It's sure to be an entertaining night so please plan to come!

Don't forget this coming Wednesday, October 1st, is Rotary After Hours at Fratello's, starting at 5pm.  Hope to see you there!

Have a great week!
