Congratulations, Trenton Rotarians! In case you haven't heard, we won the Hedke Award at District Conference this past weekend! We were very surprised and honored to find out we'd won! Thanks to all of you for everything you've done this year to contribute to this award....it's definitely a team effort! I guess my "no pressure" motto worked out.
Another great part of the weekend was when Noel was recognized with a COG award. This award recognizes outstanding Rotarians in the district. The board voted to nominate him but we didn't tell him so it was a surprise when they announced it. That was great to see! The award is well deserved. Congratulations, Noel!
Please come to the meeting today to hear about some other awards we received and some good stories from the weekend!
Welcome to today's speaker, Jim Paron, who will tell us about the health benefits of wine. Good timing for our "Girls Got Wine" event coming up on Wednesday evening!
Speaking of "Girls Got Wine", we're ready to go! Make sure to get your tickets and invite your friends and/or spouses to attend! Thanks to Val Dzagulones and her committee for putting this event together....it looks like it will be another fun evening.
There are two seats left at our table for the Taylor Rotary "Sweet Charities" event on Thursday night. If you have any energy left after "Girls Got Wine" on Wednesday night, let me know if you are interested in attending this one on Thursday night!
Shred Day is coming up on Saturday, May 9th. Remember to attend if you've signed up to help. Thanks to Ed and Val for co-chairing this worthwhile event!

***May is Youth Services Month***
As Rotarians, we channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity. The fifth Avenue of Service, Youth Service, recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), andRotary Youth Exchange.
Rotaract brings together young people ages 18-30 in universities and communities worldwide to organize service activities, develop their leadership and professional skills, and have fun. Rotary clubs sponsor them, but Rotaract club members manage and fund their clubs independently.
Interact is a club for youth ages 12-18 who want to connect with other young people in their community or school. Interact club members have fun while carrying out service projects and learning about the world. Interact clubs organize at least two service projects a year: one that benefits their community and one that benefits their community and one that encourages international understanding.
RYLA is a leadership development program that is organized at the club, district, or multi-district level. The format of your event depends on what you hope to accomplish, your resources, and your audience – it could be a one-day seminar, a three-day retreat, or a weeklong camp.
Rotary Youth Exchange gives a young person the opportunity of a lifetime. Exposure to new cultures and customs is a powerful way to promote global understanding and peace. And it’s not just students who benefit – your Rotary club and host families will too.
The 3rd Annual "Girls Got Wine" event is coming up on May 6, 2015. Please see Valerie Dzagulones if you'd like to sponsor the event or know someone who would! Please also let her know if you have donations for the raffles. It's a popular event and many ladies have already purchased tickets again this year! Men, please share this information with your wives!
