Greetings Fellow Rotarians,
The District Conference was another informative and invigorating affair. The international theme of Be the Inspiration and our District theme of Pursue the Dream were both prominent messages. Although Trenton was unable to wrestle the Hedke away from Windsor Roseland, is was not from a lack of effort. We were recognized by the District with the Richard Hedke Award in the Foundation Division. A huge thank you to the Board for their efforts and to each of you members who have made a meaningful difference in our club. Congratulations to Windsor Roseland for retaining the Hedke Award and job well done for Super District 6400. All of that said the real highlight of the Conference for me was the recognition of giving to the Foundation. While there were many Paul Harris Fellows of various levels, Major Donors of $10,000, $25,000 and $50,000, there was only one of the ultimate honor. The Arch Klumph Society, with a minimum donor level of $250,000, is the highest tier of Foundation recognition. Members have their portrait and profiles hung in the halls of Rotary International in Evanston, Illinois. It was a proud moment for our club as Noel and Debbie Jackson were brought on stage and welcomed to the Arch Klumph Society. Congratulations to the Jackson Family and thank you for showing us what is possible through Rotary.
Despite the accolades, the year is not over yet. We have a big week upcoming and need your help to finish 2018-2019 and kick off the 2019-2020 Rotary Year on a positive note. Let’s all get behind Matt as he prepares for what will undoubtedly be a fantastic year. You can start with attending our Roar meeting on Tuesday night, 6:00 at Jock’s & Associates office. I will continue to drive home the message that we ALL need to help in making this Roar successful. There is a lot at stake so please take a look at your level of involvement. If you are doing a little, we need you to do more. If you are doing nothing it is time to change that. Think about how far 8, 10 or 12 hours of your support will go. We all have some time to give. See Paul and Ronnie for direction on how you can impact the event and thank you in advance.
In addition to the conference this past weekend one of our Rotarians, John Gregory Martenson, married Danielle. Congratulations John and may this be the beginning of a lifetime of happiness. Although John will be on his Honeymoon, our evening group will meet at 6:00 this Monday at Sibley Gardens. We will be inducting 2 members, recognizing a Paul Harris Fellow and focusing in on details for the evening groups first fundraiser. Everyone is welcome.
As always if we each take a small bite of the inspiration apple it will be easier to finish. Borrowing a biblical reference from the Book of Psalms “As iron sharpens iron, so should a fiend sharpen a friend”. Look at the person sitting next to you at lunch or the person you worked with on the last event and encourage them, perhaps lead them by your example of involvement, to serve in the name of Rotary. Together Everyone Accomplishes More. Push on.
