Hello Fellow Rotarians!

Happy September!   As the season begins to change, we celebrated Labor Day, the start of school,
and the start of football season!   We were also reminded of how fortunate we are to live in the HOME OF THE BRAVE AND THE LAND OF THE FREE.  As painful as it was to watch footage and relive the tragedy of Sept 11th, I will always remember and honor those who lost their lives and I will always appreciate the freedoms we have in this great country of ours.
We are the land of the free BECAUSE of the BRAVE!

Sept 11th was also the Skydive for Polio event.  Thank you Krista Schafer Ewbanks for representing our club in skydiving for polio!   We’re excited to hear about her experience that helped raise money for polio.  If you would still like to contribute to that event, please let Krista know.

September is also Rotary Literacy Month and once again, we’ll be reading to the 3rd graders at Hedke
and Anderson Elementary Schools.  Please let me know if you’re available to read at 10:00 am this
Friday, Sept. 17th.

Rotary at Work!
I joined our own cyber security expert Christopher Sorensen at a presentation he did for residents at the Trenton Towers last week on.  Christopher provided information and handouts on various cyber scams and ways to prevent becoming a victim.  Our club provided the attendees with “goodie bags” filled with treats!  Thank you Chris for your service!

Next Monday, we will not have a membership meeting because it’s the 601 Group’s “FORE THE CAUSE” golf
outing fundraiser event that will take place at West Shore Golf & County Club on Monday, Sept 20th.  Ticket price for 18 holes is $100 per person and includes burger/dog combo at the clubhouse after the 9th hole as well as 4 alcoholic beverage tickets.  You'll also be automatically entered into 3 golfing challenges on the course!   Please consider golfing or perhaps purchasing a hole sponsorship for $100. You can register at trentonrotary.net or call 734-560-6873. There’s still time to sign up to golf or become a hole sponsor!  Please let me know if you’re interested.

Our Environment Chair Bob Burns would like to remind everyone to join the Friends of the Detroit River
this Saturday 9-18 for the fall riverfront clean up from 9:00 am to noon.   Please consider volunteering a few
hours of your time to support this event.  As a reminder, the environment is one of Rotary’s focuses this year so please contact Bob if you can help out!

Best Wishes for a safe, peaceful week.

YIR,

Valerie
