March 29th will be our 29th winner of the March Madness and last Monday drawing this month. I will draw before our meeting right at noon. Make sure you joined our Facebook TrentonRotary page to see the live drawing every day in March and Matt will also be sending out an email and winners are also listed on our website.

Update on In Person Meetings-More good news! Starting April 12, I have confirmed the Council Chambers for in person and zoom meetings on Mondays at noon! Unfortunately no food/bev is allowed, we have to follow Covid protocol, answering questions, temp check and wear masks, but we can sit up to 40 right now so it will be great to see everyone in 3D! We will also be inducting a new member, Susan White.

June 23- Installation Dinner - Chateau on the River - 6:00 pm.

Dennis Levko
I was born in Windsor, Canada and became an American citizen at the age of 14. This allows me to claim dual-citizenship.
I spent most of my childhood growing up in Delray and Lincoln Park.
I went to Lincoln Park High School and was an All-Area baseball and basketball player. I was voted “Most Athletic” at LPHS in 1975. My ambition was to be a sports broadcaster or sportswriter.
I married my wife Renee Vig (76 LPHS graduate) in 1978 and am very proud to say we are still happily married after 42+ years. We have two wonderful sons Adam and Brett. Adam graduated from the University of Tennessee and currently resides in Knoxville with his wife Lauren and our two grandsons Beckett (5 ½) and Briggs (3 ½). He and Lauren are both Physical Therapists and own their own PT clinics called Physio Lab. Brett graduated from the University of Michigan. He supervises the Estimating department, in addition to his management position at JS Vig Construction. He and his girlfriend Lauren (would be wife-damn COVID) are expecting a new grandson in June. Lauren is an executive in the Auto Show Industry and will soon be a registered nurse. Brett and Lauren reside in Canton.
I drove a gravel-train semi for my dad’s trucking company right out of high school at age 17, which kyboshed my plans to attend U of M after being accepted there. That experience almost ended my life as I avoided death by a mere few feet (laying on northbound I-75 with a blue Gremlin barreling down on me), while involved in a horrific trucking accident on the Rouge River bridge. It was bad enough to shut down both sides of I-75 for multiple hours due to gawking, which created additional accidents. Ironically, that night was to be my first date with my wife. We cancelled the date (although she didn’t believe my excuse at first) but watched the TV coverage as it was the lead story for the 6:00 news on channels 2, 4 and 7.
In 1982 I started working for JS Vig Construction and was employed there until I retired in 2018. I became a principal of the company in 2000. During my career I was fortunate enough to build a building(s) in every one of the 18 downriver communities (amongst many others). I also built/managed multiple buildings that won Construction awards through CAM and the Pyramid Awards.
I have spent most of my social life involved with sports, which is/was my passion. I played baseball, football and basketball from 7 to 17 (and beyond with baseball and basketball). In my later years I gravitated toward bowling and golf. I also coached baseball, basketball, football and hockey for age levels 8 thru high school.
I have done free-lance broadcasting of high school basketball and hockey games. One such game featured Rotarians (long before I knew them) John Howey, Jim Mans, John Martenson and Jamie Plemmons when they played hockey for Trenton HS in the early 80’s. I turned down a broadcasting contract with Wayne Cable because back before ESPN became popular, broadcasters didn’t make much money and there weren’t many quality opportunities available. Oh how times have changed.
I have bowled a sanctioned 300 game, but am still looking for my first hole-in-one.
As a coach, my highlights were being fortunate enough to win downriver football championships, a state hockey and baseball championship, and a 5th place finish in a World Series. More importantly I had the opportunity to mold hundreds of children and young adults and teach them about teamwork, hard work, honesty, integrity and lifelong values.
I have been an active member of Construction, Southern Wayne County Chamber, Trenton Rotary and GI Golf & Country Club Boards.
Most of my time now is spent enjoying retirement in a few different ways. I enjoy spring, summer and fall in Michigan playing golf, attending sporting events (pre-COVID), boating and spending much of my free time with family and friends. Five to six days per month are spent in Knoxville with our “southern family” where my grandkids keep me active and young. Much or all of January, February and March are spent in Tennessee, Florida and California, enjoying sunshine, good weather and great times.
My faith is very important to me and I am grateful and thankful to be truly blessed!
