We’re less than two weeks away from our 8th Annual Winter Beach Blast coming up on Saturday, February 21st! Many of our sponsors from past years are supporting the event again and we’re gathering a nice list of both silent auction items and Super Silent auction items for the event. Chairperson Sandy Mull is keeping the committee on task! Please let us know if you have an auction item you’d like to offer! We are still accepting bottles of wine or cheer for our “Bucket of Cheer” raffle. We’ve also got our “Coconut Cash” reverse raffle tickets for sale. Make sure to get yours before they’re sold out!
Thank you to Tom Dickman for hosting another nice Fireside Chat at his lovely home on January 26th. Several Rotarians attended to share some Rotary history with some of our newest members. Thank you to all who participated!
Several Trenton Rotarians attended the SWCRC Business-to-Business Expo on January 30th to support Sandy and the Chamber. Our club also had a table at the event and thanks to the Valerie Dzagulones and her creativity in decorating to advertise for the Beach Blast, we won “Best Small Booth” at the event! Good job, Val!
This past Saturday, another successful Turn off the Violence event was held, with a puppet show, a magic show, crafts, games, demonstrations by the THS Robotics Club and more. It was another entertaining event for the kids that attended. Thank you to chairpersons Valerie Dzagulones and Jeff Evans, along with Ed Shenton, who continued helping even though he passed the baton on from last year. Thanks to all the Rotarians that helped throughout the day too!
Personal trainer, and Trenton Rotarian, Roy Vreeland held his first of two sessions on fitness on January 31st. Several of us attended with our guests to soak in Roy’s wisdom on nutrition and exercise. It was interesting and informative. The second of the two sessions will take place on Saturday, February 14th so by the end of this session, we’ll know all we need to know to become and stay healthy! Thanks, Roy!
Please keep Timber Baun-Crooks and her husband, John, in your prayers as he faces a serious medical condition.

Job Shadowing / Mentoring
Stacey Marcum is the new Career Center Specialist at Trenton High School and would like to expand job shadowing opportunities for students. Stacey would like to have a "go-to" list of employers that would be willing to host a student for a day. There may also be an opportunity for individually mentoring a student as well. A sign up list will be going around today at Rotary and if you're interested, please sign up. If you have additional questions, please contact Stacey directly at marcums@trentonschools.com or 734-692-4530.

Can you imagine $900 million dollars, 900 million candy bars, 900 million diamond rings, 900 million people? We all have difficulty in imaging this number, but for the 900 million people who live with chronic hunger, it is not something they try to imagine, but something they must try to survive.
Malnutrition is the largest single contributor to disease; it imposes crushing economic burdens on the developing world. Freedom from hunger and malnutrition is a basic human right, and The Rotary Foundation is working to alleviate hunger and malnutrition.
Many of the global grants that the Foundation funds are for projects working towards the end of hunger. Every day, Rotarians take action to end the tragedy of world hunger. Your contribution to The Rotary Foundation enables this to happen.
Thank you. -- provided by Neil McBeth
