"The Ramblings of the Mad Hatter"
Greetings Trenton Rotarians!
This past week, we said goodbye to our dear friend Kyle Stack. Past-President of our club, Kyle could be counted to help with any and all events. Her kind heart and generous nature were perfect qualities for a Rotarian. She was in state at Trenton City Hall from 3:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday , where the line of visitors never waned. Trenton Rotarian and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell spoke at a wonderful service of remembrance, along with Mayor Steve Rzeppa and a few other Downriver dignitaries. Thursday morning, the Mass of Resurrection was held at St. Joseph parish. It was a beautiful mass, with the full choir leading the congregation in song. It was an overflow crowd, with the St. Joseph activities center serving as a secondary church setting. Several members of the Trenton Rotary, as well as members of Rotary District 6400, were in attendance to say their final goodbyes. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill Jasman and the entire Stack family.
Friday evening was the annual Wild Game Dinner. It was a festive time. The crowd of just under 200 enjoyed the food and fellowship as they were entertained by stories from former Detroit Tiger Lance Parish. Many thanks go out to Dennis Levko, Mark Angellotti and the entire Wild Game committee. Congratulations on another successful event.
Our club Christmas party is this coming Friday, December 13, at Sportsmen's Den. Please RSVP to Paulette Dillingham (paulette.dillingham@gmail.com) so that we can finalize our count. If there is a dessert that you would like to bring, please contact Rose Angela Gronda (rgronda@firstmerchants.com), who has graciously agreed to coordinate the desserts for the event.
Join us this Monday as Kathy Kane speaks to us regarding the Rotary tool kit and how it can help strengthen our club. Don't forget to bring your presents for the Salvation Army Christmas tags. Remember that the gifts should be unwrapped with the tags attached.
Tomorrow evening is our monthly 5:01 Meeting at Sibley Gardens, followed by the monthly 6:01 Group meeting.
Have a wonderful week. As you prepare to celebrate the upcoming holiday season, remember that there are many people who will go without. Do the right thing. Connect the world. And be living examples of the Rotary motto "Service Above Self."
Yours In Rotary,
Matt Hatty

How long have I been a Member of Rotary?
It's complicated but Southgate Rotary 1992-1998, Trenton Rotary 2007-present. So about 18 years or so.
One Rotary Aha Moment-Chicago District conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0a-5XbYNJc . We participated in flash mob at the district conference with my family, it's great to be part of something bigger than yourself and a great promotion for polio. Love that my boys get involved with charitable cause now too.
Favorite club event: Girls Got Wine & Sham Rockin'- Because they were fun, we made money and they both sold out of course.
Other things besides Rotary that I'm passionate about: Matt, Dustin, Timmy and the 7 year old pup Rusty. Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber, a member since 1990 and recently served as Chair last year, Trenton Business Assoc. Member since 1995, past president, current Marketing Admin. The Destination Downriver Coalition, Trenton Trailtown, Healthy Trenton, Market Insights and the Trenton Trib/Island Beacon and Downriver Current.
Things I'd like to help with our Rotary Club: Encourage member engagement, more hands on projects, help Noel promote District events and continue to help promote our club.
