What a great turn out and beautiful evening for a socially distanced picnic at John and Laura Howey's thank you! And to chef Mike Doyle, Bob Haveman and Mark Angellotti for your efforts and Val Dzagulones for bringing the games. It was great to see everyone!
Since we have not collected for Happy Dollars in a while I am making another plea to please "be happy" and send some happiness to the Rotary for the past happy dollars you owe or future happiness! You can send me a note and tell me how much to put on your Oct. bill.
Many have asked me if it is easier to be president during this time as there are not as many things going on. Well, as past president of Southgate Rotary, I can tell you that I think we are just as busy "behind the scenes" as we were in person!
Each week we hope the technology works for our meetings, since July this year we had a hybrid installation, a Virtual Meet the governor, A meet up with the District Governor, A Backyard Theatre Production, a boat meet up, The first delivery of STEM toys/grant to the Goodfellows, a meet up at the Taylor Conservancy, Skydiving for Polio fundraising, Delivery of Labor day meals to Downriver for Veterans, installed two new Peace Chain recipients and soon a District Governors Golf Outing sponsorship and selling fundraising tickets. Our membership committee continues to keep in touch with members and look out for new members, our fundraising committee has come up with a SUPER cool new virtual fundraiser that we believe will raise the funds we need in absence of the Shamrock and Wild Game this year.
Some things we are working on is an October Haunted Open Book Theatre production, viewed thru their windows from outside! Fireside Chat at Tom Dickman's, a virtual Christmas Happy Hour & Dinner, and a virtual Potluck dinner in January. We will also continue to volunteer for DR for Veterans food distribution and deliver soon to the Salvation Army more STEM toys. Stay tuned!
