"The Ramblings of the Mad Hatter"
Hello Trenton Rotarians!
It looks like summer is giving us a beautiful finish as we start the fall season. I feel like Trenton Rotary is going through the same transition, as we get back to work after a summer of fun. Last week we presented the Little Free Library to Anderson Elementary. Rotarian Paul Frost did an exceptional job refurbishing our previous library and Principal Doug Mentzer has big plans for it at the school. Last week was also when Noel Jackson went to Niagara Falls for some Governor Elect training. I'm sure he'll come back fired up with new ideas to make his Rotary year special. Speaking of Noel, at this week's meeting, he will give us his vision of the Ghana Dental Clinic he is planning to update. This is an outstanding project that has the support not only of District 6400, but other Rotary Districts. We will also be collecting funds for the hurricane relief effort.
Tuesday will see several Rotarians heading to Schoolcraft College to attend One Rotary Summit. This is another opportunity to listen to the story of Rotary and learn from other members of District 6400. If you haven't signed up yet, let me know and I will make sure to reserve a spot for you.
Wednesday will bring the Fun & Fellowship committee together to continuing planning outings for the year. Our next event is the Halloween Hayride at Westcroft Gardens. Don't forget to contact Jean Wloszek to secure your spots at this family friendly affair.
On Saturday, several members of District 6400 will get together to pack meals for the Kids Coalition Against Hunger. At least a third of these meals will go to support those affected by hurricane Dorian.
We also have some fund raising and community service events coming up, with a comedy night, a bone marrow drive and the Wild Game Dinner on tap. Keep your eye on the newsletter for more information.

I am a retiree of 19 years. I worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for 34 years. During my time at Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) I had various jobs; Account Executive responsible for Kmart’s BCBS coverage for the United States, Regional Coordinator for the Chrysler UAW BCBS coverage, Personnel and Manager of a records retention department.
I attended the University of Missouri and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Business Administration (BBA) degree. I played college football at both schools. After receiving my degree I received a letter from “Uncle Sam” requesting my services.
I was in the Army for two years where I was head legal clerk for a training brigade. I was responsible for reviewing court martial, administrative discharges and Article 15s. During my time in service I met my wife Louraine who was teaching school in Louisville, Kentucky. One week after I left the Army we were married. We have been married 54 years. We have two children, Ken a dentist in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and Kimberly who is vice president for Wells Fargo in Atlanta, Georgia. We have two granddaughters Mackenzie and Jordyn.
