Trenton Rotary Club Presents Sham-Rockin on the River

Our big fundraiser is just 4 weeks away and your committee is working hard to make this event successful. We want to raise funds for the groups we support throughout the year.

They have a pretty good web site and that is where I got my vests, sweatshirts and other logo wear. Look sharp as we will be going to more events in the next year. We will be expected help Governor Elect Noel with the District Golf Outing and the Membership and Foundation Dinner, his other events and also his district conference.

"The Ramblings of the Mad Hatter"

Greetings Trenton Rotarians!

It was a Rotary-less week for me. On Monday morning, I flew to Providence Rhode Island for a business meeting and missed the State of the City address. On Thursday, due to ice and snow in Detroit, my flight back was delayed two hours and I missed a Sham-Rockin' on the River meeting. So instead of Rotary, my week was spent getting ready for Christmas (yes, Christmas). There's no rest for Santa's elves!

It was a very nice State of the City event. Mayor Steven Rzeppa gave us a very positive outlook for the City of Trenton in the upcoming year. Congratulations go out to Truago, which was named the Trenton Business of the Year. Kudos, as well, to Trenton Forging, which was named this year's runner-up. We also grew by two members, as Ann Rudisill and Krista Schafer Ewbank were inducted into our club. And DGE Noel Jackson presented Mayor Rzeppa with a Peace Chain Link Award. I want to thank Kathy Kane for organizing the State of the City meeting and all of you who helped her put it together. I also want to thank Valerie Dzagulones for taking over the hosting duties in my absence.

We do have a lot of coals in the fire, as we prepare for the Children's Fun Fair, the blood drive, Sham-Rockin' on the River, Reading with Characters and other events that are on the horizon. If some of these projects look interesting to you, please contact someone and get involved.

Join us at this week's meeting when Bruce Jocks presents to us the club's financials. Also make it a point to come to the February 5:01 meeting Monday evening at Sibley Gardens and stay for the 6:01 Group meeting afterwards.

Have a wonderful week. Continue to connect the world by doing the right thing. Be visible examples of the Rotary motto "Service Above Self."

Arthurs Middle School Career Day

Never underestimate your power to inspire a young mind!

Arthurs Middle School in Trenton hosts Career Day on March 13. Kids need to hear from a wide variety of occupations as they make school and career choices and prepare for the next phase of life. It's an easy and fun way to give back to the community.

Arthurs Middle School is once again hosting our annual Career Day for our 7th graders. It will be on Friday, March 13, 2020 in the afternoon (11:30-3:00). I am looking for enthusiastic speakers and hoping you will consider coming back to present or present for the first time. Please let me know if you will be available to attend this year. If you are unable to present this year, please feel free to give out my email address to others whom you think would be a great addition to our speakers. I will be providing more information as March approaches.
