Trenton Rotary Board Meeting Minutes
May 19, 2020
Called to order at May 19, 2020 7:04 PM
Present: Matt Hatty, Kathy Kane, Mike Concessi, Bill Jasman, Paulette Dillingham, Chris Sorensen Ray Yee, Kimberly Mott, Val Dzaglones, Tom Dickman, Mark Angellotti, Kim Mott. Also Attending Bob Burns, Bob Haveman and Rose Angela Gronda. Absent: Jean Wloszek
Secretary’s Report: Minutes from April Board and April 27 were presented. Motion to Approve minutes as amended by Kathy Kane, seconded by Chris Sorenson. Motion approved. All are available on Club Runner.
Treasurer’s report: Treasurers Reports for April were placed on file.
The Aging Report The report was sent out. Timing Issue between sending in checks and reconciling Club Runner.
Expenditure Requests:
1) Motion by Bill Jasman made to approve $400 for inside back cover ad for District Directory. Seconded by Chris Sorensen. Discussion about funding was held. $250 out of Club Budget, $150 out of Noel Jackson Support money. Ray Yee to begin a tracking sheet for the Noel Money. The Motion was approved.
2) Mark Angellotti moved to approve a Grant Request of $1500 in Matching Grant from Rotary 6400 to purchase $3000 worth of STEM and Arts Toys for the Trenton Goodfellow’s and the Salvation Army. Seconded by Chris Sorensen and the motion was approved.
3.) Mark Angellotti moved to approve a Grant Request of $1000 toward a collaborative grant with 3 Canadian Clubs to purchase sewing machines to vocationally train girls in sewing. Seconded by Dennis Levko and the motion was approved.
4.) Tabled was a motion to give Covid 19 assistance to the Downriver Community Conference Center. The board was seeking more information.
5.) Motion made by Chris Sorensen to fund the Open Book Theater Company $1000 out of the Tom Shumate Endowment Fund for the Arts. Seconded by Mark Angellotti. Bill Jasman Abstained and the motion was approved.
New Business:
1.) Year End Financial Projection
2.) Mark Angellotti motioned to have the invoices be billed for the regular amount and add a note that they can reduce the amount paid by $22 or pay the full amount and donate that amount to the club account, seconded by Mike Concessi and approved.
3.) Honor Scholarship Recipients in New Herald Ad - Declined
4.) Suspend Membership for Brendan Gillespie due to his call up to serve in the Naval Reserve in the next year. Motioned to accept by Mark Angellotti, Seconded by Mike Concessi. Motion approved.
5.) Westfield is closed until October due to Covid.
Ongoing Business
100 check to Penrickton was returned, make a donation? Motion made by Mark Angellotti to donate $1000 to the Penrickton Center, seconded by Bill Jasman and approved.

Greetings Trenton Rotarians!
It was another beautiful week in paradise. The sun was shining. The temperature was rising. Welcome to summer!
There have been a lot of preparations for the end of this Rotary year and the beginning of the next. The installation banquet is this Wednesday, June 24th. If you ordered a meal, it can be picked up at the Kennedy Recreation Center at 5:30 pm. The Zoom social hour (well, forty-five minutes anyhow) will begin around 6:00 pm with the main program starting at 6:45. You can join in on Zoom using meeting ID 815 5291 0562 and password 515915. Please join us to celebrate another successful year.
The Rotary International convention is going on right now. You still have time to sign up for the many programs available and celebrate what Rotary is. Take this opportunity to see what is going on in the Rotary world.
Meet the Governor is next Tuesday, June 30 via Zoom. The meeting id is 843 0359 1056 (no password is needed). Let's give Noel Jackson a big welcome as he begins his year as District Governor.
As things slowly return to normal, please remember that there are those who will continue to need our help. All of our actions, every time we "Do The Right Thing," we, as Rotarians, "Connect The World." The end of this Rotary year does not end the significance of the themes RI President Mark Maloney and District Governor John Chambers chose. They are themes to live by. Make "Service Above Self" your everyday mantra.

It was great to see everyone for the third week of discussion about in person meetings and protocols. We discussed other meeting options while Westfield is closed. The old K of C on West Jefferson is now owned by Teri's Catering and they can do up to 200 people, she may be open by Aug. and she may be able to do a lunch min of 35. I also called City Hall to see if we could use the Council Chambers for meetings until Westfield is open, Mayor Rzeppa said he thought Westfield would be open sooner, but will touch base at the end of July to see if possible by Aug. We also discussed maybe using a big tent to try an August meeting ( as our survey said most members are good with August) with everyone bringing their own chair and meals, but being close to tech/hot spot and weather is always an issue, so we will continue that discussion next week. We discussed how it went at 5:01 and PM meetings and we need to get better at that. Some ideas to encourage better social distancing include better audio/tech systems and maybe each person also using their own devices so everyone can "see" each other. It was also great to discuss with the seven board members who attended this meeting what their personal comfort levels are in-meeting with people and we will do one more meeting on this next Wednesday, if anyone else wants to be part of the casual discussion.

Thank you to all the Rotarians who made perfect attendance this year. It has been a challenging year, but covid did provide us with a few more ways to serve. Don't forget, Larry Kearney at Riverside Financial is still collecting food and checks for the Salvation Army Wyandotte and Christnet is hosting the homeless all summer in Wyandotte and still need our help. If you can help with food or a donation, please get them to Larry. Wednesday, we will have our installation banquet on Zoom and Live. Please let Matt and Kathy know what your intentions are. You have paid for your dinner through your dues, so pick up a dinner from us and join us on zoom.
Mike Concessi and I have begun the transition over the next couple of weeks. This is part of the mentorship that we promise as Rotarians. Also if you would like to make a year end donation to the Rotary Foundation, make it online, as Rotary has a two to three week delay for all donations at year end.
Also, go to https://www.riconvention.org/en/taipei to register to the Tapei Convention at the lowest cost. $315 per person. Also, this site will let you reserve your hotel. It is 30 Tapei Dollar to 1 US Dollar. So 9000 for the 4 days is 340 dollars for a hotel. the Pa Pa Whale hotel is this price and 6.95 for breakfast and serve lunch and dinner. Go To Tapei.
