Rollin on The River!
We had our Glow Roll event this last Saturday night. That’s right, we Rolled Downriver. We started at the City Hall building in our beautiful city of Trenton, We gathered about 40 glowing young and older bikers. Captain Rotary showed up and gave us a great Rotary speech to get us all rolling. We rolled throughout our downtown area with our glowing bikes and headgear towards Gibraltar, back toward Riverside Hospital and then all around. We laughed, crashed and had a great time. We ended up at Rivertown where we could end with a drink and great conversations.
So a great big thank you to Pure Michigan Trenton Trail Town with Wendy Pate that made this happen. Of course my favorite part of this event was Spencer Howey, that put his heart into one of his first sub-chaired event. Mike McCullough, Sherry & Peter Poulos were there handing out glow sticks and helping with registry. Bruce & Lauren Jocks and I rolled together. The Howey men took charge and made sure our group rolled back home safely.
We had our first Board meeting of the Year 2023/24. We met at the newly remodeled Mom’s Kitchen. They now have a beautiful bar with a huge TV. I’m so thankful that they are making space for us but in the future we may need a more private setting. We are meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. We only had about 9 of us show up but I believe that was due to the day change from Thursday’s to Wednesday's.
Here is some of our Board happenings;
- Story Walk-$100 Sponsorship- encourage reading and literacy as well as Health and fitness
- Its in Your Jeans Fundraiser Sponsorship for $250.
- We moved a large amount of money from the Club account to the Foundation that was owed. We are working on best practices so those amounts are not such a hit to the Club account.
- We said goodbye as a club to a good friend, Skip Howey who has blessed this rotary group for 30 years. I spoke with Skip and he and his wife are wanting to engage in some other activities. We are SO THANKFUL to you Skip for all your years of service to our Trenton Rotary Club. God bless you in ALL you and your wife do.
- WE are talking about moving a afternoon meeting to the evening meeting once a ¼ and vice versa. Keep looking for that.
- St. Phillips Food Pantry sent a beautiful thank you to all that donated and would like us to continue bringing soup and other non-perishable items.
This Monday Bill Jasman will be running zoom.
