Hello Trenton Rotarians,
It's been an exciting beginning to the new Rotary year! From the installation banquet, to the boat races, to the planning of the many events I hope to have this year, it's been a whirlwind start.
First, I want to thank all of you who were able to attend the banquet. It is truly an honor to be your President this year and I was excited at the turnout. Jackie did an outstanding job with the planning and decorations. And for those of you who weren't able to stick around afterwards, the Mad Hatter (not me!) entertained us with juggling, including objects on fire. To make things really exciting, he even did some fire eating! Of course my granddaughter told him to be careful, because fire is dangerous!
Next I would like to thank all of you who helped out with the Roar on the River. Whether you were on the executive committee, were an event sponsor, or helped out in some other way, your participation is truly appreciated. Congratulations to Paul Jocks and the executive committee who put in untold hours to make the event happen. Although Mother Nature wasn't our friend this year, if you attended the event at any time during the weekend, you would have had a great time.
Finally I would like to thank my Fun & Fellowship committee. Paulette Dillingham, Brenda Gillespie, Rose Angela Gronda, Jackie Hatty, Scott Haveman, Kathy Kane and Jean Wloszek have been hard at work planning events for this year. The ideas were flowing at the last meeting and there are some exciting things already being finalized. Stay tuned for more details!
As you know, this year's Rotary International theme is "Rotary Connects the World." To emphasize this, Ronnie Ruelle and I have decided to add a column: Rotary Connects the World: Our Trenton Rotary Connection. This column will feature one of the members of our club so that we may get to know that member better. So if your President taps you on the shoulder and asks you to send in a brief article about yourself, please take the time to do so.
This week you will be hearing from Tom Dickman and Paul Frost. They will be giving us an update on the Trenton Educational Foundation, another outstanding service club in the City of Trenton.
Have a wonderful week. As you go out and Do the Right Thing, thereby Connecting the World, strive always to be true examples of the Rotary motto, Service Above Self!
Yours In Rotary,
Matt Hatty

I joined Rotary because I saw how much of a positive impact it has made in my dad’s life and knew that it could benefit me in the same way.
My hobbies include fitness and being outside biking or on the water, hanging out my friends, boyfriend, and family. I also love to travel, the picture I used is from a recent trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy, taken on the Island of Capri.
