"The Ramblings of the Mad Hatter"

Hello Trenton Rotarians!

Halloween week turned out to be a good one for the Trenton Rotary. At our last meeting, we learned how District 6400 has been featured by Rotary International in some of their publications. From Launch Detroit to the Howey Family Medical Center in Ethiopia, our District is making a difference both at home and around the globe. I guess Mike McCullough was correct when he dubbed us "Super" District 6400!

It was also interesting listening to Chris Sorensen giving us a few tidbits regarding Cyber Security and internet safety. His Tuesday evening seminar was also very informative to everyone who attended. Cyber criminals never rest, so we must remain vigilant to keep our online presence safe.

The "Be the Match" bone marrow drive is coming along nicely. The committees from both Livonia and Trenton are hard at work getting the word out. Remember to let your family and friends know about this. We need young adults to fill the registry.

Several Trenton Rotarians attended the District Foundation and Membership dinner on Saturday. Although I was unable to attend, I understand that the dinner and program were very nice. Our membership has always been very generous towards the Rotary Foundation. This proved to be true again this year as we brought home a couple of recognitions from the District.

This Friday is the Portafino's Comedy Night fund raiser. Please contact Kathy Kane to purchase tickets. $10.00 of every ticket goes to the club. And you can get a discount on dinner there to boot! Please join us for a night of fun and help raise a little more money for the club.

As we "fall back" again this fall (I hope none of you showed up an hour early today), I wonder how many of you know that the idea behind Daylight Saving Time (or "Summer Time" as some refer to it) was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin in 1784. After presenting this idea, I'm sure some of his colleagues told him to go fly a kite!
