Spouse: Jackie (Pitrone) Hatty – we’ll celebrate our 29th anniversary this June 26th
Children: Matthew (27), Christine (25) (married to Steve Trombly (25)), Mitchell (21), Caroline (19), and Max (15)
Granddaughter: Hayden (5 ½ months)
Pet: Cammie (7), a puggle, is the first (AND ONLY) family pet.
Occupation: My wife, Jackie, and I own Fun Services, a small company that provides entertainment and activities for company picnics and corporate outings. We also provide games and prizes for school carnivals and church festivals. Elementary schools work with us to obtain merchandise for the Santa’s Secret Shop and Holiday Gift Shop programs. Lately we’ve been making a bigger push into home parties, where we rent tents, tables and chairs, as well as inflatable activities, concession machines and supplies (sno-kones, cotton candy and popcorn), and other activities for the kids.
Why I joined Rotary: I was blessed with a great family growing up. Even with ten children, my parents made sure we were never in need of anything. My dad was a member of the Northwest Detroit Lion’s Club, which taught me the importance of giving back to the community. Since I feel that God has continued to bless me throughout my adult life, I felt it was my turn to help take care of those less fortunate than me, to “pay it forward,” so to speak.
Interesting Tidbits:
I was the fifth of ten children, five boys and five girls.
Alan B. Shepard, Jr. made the first American manned flight into space on the day I was born (May 5, 1961). My Mom said she told the doctors she wasn’t going to the delivery room until she watched the launch (I think she was kidding).
My birthday is celebrated by millions of people in the U.S. and throughout the western hemisphere (Cinco de Mayo).
Being born on the fifth day of the fifth month, and being the fifth child born in my family, “5” has been my favorite number (in case you didn’t notice, my wife and I have FIVE children). It hasn’t won me anything, but it sounds pretty cool.
Another interesting tidbit: My son Mitchell was born April 6, 1994. Easter that year was on April 3rd. Easter in 1995 was on April 16th. So he turned one without ever having celebrated Easter!
