The minutes from the January board meeting are attached later in this newsletter. Please click the link to find out what what took place at the meeting. It does take a bit of time to be able to share the minutes because we want to share them after they've been approved at the next month's board meeting and that took place in February. As they say, better late than never!
Please join us this Wednesday at 5:30 pm for Rotary After Hours at Savannah's Restaurant. We've had some pretty interesting conversations in past months and the nice part is there's no work or fundraising involved....just fellowship!
Matt is working on Reading with Characters coming up on Saturday, March 14th. Please let him know if you'd be interested in dressing in a costume and reading to the kids...it'll make you feel pretty appreciated for those few minutes! Ask Flat Stanley or our pirate or Captain Rotary!
The hero is the one who kindles a great light in the world, who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by. The saint is the man who walks through the dark paths of the world, himself a light ~ Felix Adler
Reading with the Characters - Saturday, March 14th
We'll be teaming up with DYPAC again this year to host Reading with the Characters! Please let Matt Hatty or Noel Jackson know if you'd like to dress as a character and read a story to the kids. It's really fun and I think any of the readers will say they feel pretty important when the kids come up and want their autograph!
***March is Water and Sanitation Month***
“FROM THE OCTOBER 2014 RI BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING”
The second 2014–15 RI Board of Directors meeting was held on 27–30 October 2014 in Evanston, Illinois, USA. The Board modified Rotary’s calendar of special observances to designate specific months highlighting the Areas of Focus. RI has established monthly program emphases for the remainder of this Rotary year as follows:
March: Area of Focus: Water and Sanitation
April: Area of Focus: Maternal and Child Health
May: Youth Services
June: Fellowships Month.
Time is running out....register now to attend District Conference from April 30th to May 3rd, click on this link to register online:
Past District Governor Don Gregory writes - “One day we will awaken to a world where every mother will be able to write her child’s name and that child will be able to grow up to write his or her own name. The world will be free of polio and every human being in the world will be able to reach out and drink a clean, clear, glass of water without fear of disease or contamination; we will all breathe-in-the fresh, clean air of a world of peace.”
Is this possible? In the world in which we now live it doesn’t seem so – but through The Rotary Foundation we can take one step at a time and that small step can make a difference to so many – perhaps not the entire world at once – but it does in the smaller worlds of those whose lives we have touched.
Thanks to your contribution to The Rotary Foundation – you and I can take many steps in that direction.
