Welcome to our speaker for today, Representative Pat Somerville.  He'll update us on the latest happenings in District 23 and the State House of Representatives.   Welcome, Pat!

Congratulations again to our newest Trenton Rotarian, Steven Rzeppa, who was inducted last Monday!  We're glad to have you as a member of our club.  We're looking forward to you jumping in and getting involved in our activities!

We had a nice time at Savannah's on Wednesday for Rotary After Hours.  Thanks to those who came out for some fellowship!

Board members, please remember that we have our monthly board meeting this Thursday evening at 6pm at Savannah's.  Please let me know if you won't be attending.

Stacey Marcum is the new Career Center Specialist at Trenton High School and would like to expand job shadowing opportunities for students.  Stacey would like to have a "go-to" list of employers that would be willing to host a student for a day.  There may also be an opportunity for individually mentoring a student as well.  A sign up list will be going around today at Rotary and if you're interested, please sign up.  If you have additional questions, please contact Stacey directly at marcums@trentonschools.com or 734-692-4530.

Have a good week!

***January is Rotary Awareness Month***
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

2014 Salvation Army Bell Ringing Results
Thank you to Mark Angellotti for providing the 2014 Salvation Army Bell Ringing results at last week's meeting.  We raised $21,121 in 2013 and $21,390 in 2014 and surpassed last year by $269!  Good job to our top five collectors this year:
1) Noel Jackson $221.55
2) Ron Sheck $191.26
3) Bob Paulbeck $ 190.12
4) Laurie Dixon (her slot was filled in by Mark!) tied with Kevin Gilday $182.96
5) Mark Angellotti $181.73!
Thanks to Dan Leiter for co-chairing this year's effort with Mark and agreeing to chair it next year.  Thanks to Paul Frost and Larry Kearney for taking the Salvation Army band out and collecting over $1,000.  It was definitely a group effort and if you participated in any way, you helped to make this a success.  Thank you!

Kids Against Hunger - Saturday, January 24th
This is the third year that Trenton Rotarians and Trenton High School Interactors will get together to pack nutritious meals for those less fortunate.  Rotarians are asked to be at Trenton High School by 9am.  Generally, 100 Interact students are there to pack meals so with the help of several Rotarians, 10,000 meals can be packed in just a couple hours!  Please see Noel Jackson, Bill Jasman or Mike Doyle for more information.

Turn Off the Violence - Saturday, February 7th
Please plan to attend the Turn Off the Violence event where we show kids fun alternatives to violent TV shows, movies and video games.  This event is being chaired by Jeff Evans and Val Dzagulones.  Please make sure to let them know if you can help.

Arthurs Middle School Career Day - Friday, February 20th
Arthurs Middle School is once again hosting their annual Career Day on February 20, 2015.  They are looking for enthusiastic speakers!  If you're interested, please contact Debbie Rhoades via email at Rhoadesd@trentonschools.com.

Winter Beach Blast - Saturday, February 21st
This is our biggest fundraiser and supports many of our worthy causes to which we donate.  If you have sporting event tickets or tickets to a show that you'd like to donate for auctions and/or raffles, please let Rose Angela know!  Please let Kathy Kane know of any suggestions for potential sponsors.  Chairperson Sandy Mull will keep us informed of the progress made as we get to work!
