Today we'll hear from Captain Brian Reed of the Salvation Army as we get ready for our annual bell ringing. Welcome, Captain Reed!
Mike McCullough will present our final Foundation Spotlight in recognition of Foundation Month today. Also, for Foundation Month, keep in mind that the Howey Foundation has offered matching funds up to $500 per Rotarian for his/her donations to the Rotary Foundation but limited to a total of $5,000 for the club as a whole. Tom Dickman, our Foundation Chair, says $2,500 of the funds are already spoken for and it's on a first-come, first-serve basis so make sure you get your checks to Tom soon! Checks should be made payable to Trenton Rotary so that one check can be written to RI for all donations.
Several Rotarians gathered at Savannah's on Wednesday to support the Woodhaven-Brownstown club, including Mike McCullough, Val Dzagulones, Dr. Bodell, Laurie Dixon and myself. President Mary Rochon said how much she appreciated everyone attending and letting her know her club has other Rotarians to support their club as they try to increase membership and become more visible in their community.
John Allen will receive a delivery of our coats for Operation Warmth today! He'll be making phone calls to members of the Rotary Clubs of Wyandotte, Gibraltar and Grosse Ile. Each club will pick up the brand new coats they ordered and deliver them to the schools in their own district who will then provide the coats to the children who need them. It's a good feeling to know that we're making a difference in the lives of these children.
Please consider attending "Wine, Women & Warmth" on Wednesday, December 3rd to help us assemble no-sew blankets for the Kids Talk program sponsored by the Guidance Center. Both men and women are welcome to attend and please tell your spouses to come. The evening will be a combination of fellowship and hands-on service!
I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and spend it with those who matter most to you!

Larry Wright gives an update on Detroit Launch.
The Woodhaven-Brownstown Rotary Club had some special guests.

Wine, Women & Warmth - December 3rd @ Westfield
This event is designed to offer fellowship and an opportunity for hands-on service. We'll be assembling no-sew fleece blankets to that evening at Westfield and these blankets will benefit the Kids Talk Program sponsored by the Guidance Center. While we're assembling these blankets, we'll also have wine, snacks and share some conversation while we work! If you'd like to attend and bring a dish to pass, please sign up on the sign-up sheet or let Rose Angela know.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing - December 12th and 13th
Please see Mark Angellotti to sign up for a bell ringing shift one of these two days. If you have any friends or family that would like to take a shift, let Mark know and he'd be glad to sign them up. Dan Leiter is helping Mark out this year as well...thanks, Mark and Dan!
Volunteer to help The Guidance Center
The Guidance Center is looking for volunteers to help take kids shopping at Walmart the morning of Saturday, December 13th, from 8-9:30am. Even if you've signed up to ring the bell that morning, you still have time for a quick shopping trip inside before you head to your bell ringing station! Please see Jean Wloszek to volunteer.

Foundation Minute for November 24th from Regional Rotary Foundation Chair Neil McBeth
In June 2013, the Yarnell Hill fire claimed the lives of 19 firefighters and destroyed over 100 homes; it also severely damaged the Yarnell Water Improvement Association’s system with an estimated cost for repair at $1.5 million. And although the water services were never interrupted, keeping the system running manually was a financial and physical burden to the community.
In an effort to strengthen the ability of the community to develop, fund, and maintain a sustainable water and sanitation system, the Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Prescott-Sunup in D5490 (Arizona) partnered with the Rotary Club of Weonju in D3730 (South Korea) and the Alliance Service & Control Specialists in Phoenix to ensure that the town of Yarnell was able to recover from the devastating effects the fire had on their water distribution system.
With a Global Grant totaling over $89,000 dollars and with contributions from Mexico, Germany, Canada, and the Cayman Islands the system was replaced. And one year after the devastating fire, the Yarnell Water Improvement Association’s water system’s computer is back online!
Thanks to your contribution to The Rotary Foundation this was made possible.
