Join us for lunch and help us celebrate student scholars this Monday June 10

President Elect's Corner

Greetings Fellow Rotarians,

First, a big thank you to Kathy who stepped in to lead our last meeting. Our club has a great group of leaders coming in the next many years. We have a bright future.

This Monday Laurie Dixon will introduce us to the recipients of the Castignola Scholarships for 2019. Once again, we will see the best that Trenton High School has to offer. Because a few of our members also offer some form of scholarships we will also recognize those members and their recipients for their fine work in the community.

This week we will also recognize our first Peace Chain Recipient. Christnet is a not for profit partnership of churches who serve the homeless. Lead by a Board of Directors, represented at our meeting by Todd and Linda Cleaver and Tom and Linda Dickman, Christnet supports homeless men, women and children by providing overnight accommodations and a helping hand to find other resources necessary to get the homeless back on track to a self-sustaining life. Their work in the outer Wayne County areas closely aligns with the ideals of Rotary and has inspired Trenton Rotary Club to acknowledge their efforts. Congratulations to Christnet, as DGN Noel and TRC recognize the inaugural Peace Chain Award.

Friendly reminder that our extension club will be meeting this Monday and welcome Joanne Gonyea to the meeting. Our B-ball and BBQ fundraiser is taking shape and should be a great addition to our clubs effort to serve our City. Please feel free to join us at Sibley Gardens at 6:00. And finally, as we enter June (and seemingly summer) it is time to fully focus on the Roar. There are so many ways to support our club at this event. The committee and I are asking for everyone to find a way and do your part. Thank you all!
