I’m excited about the upcoming Peace Pole Dedications coming up on Sept. 26. (In case you missed it, the flyer is in our newsletter this week.)

I say this because at a time when tariffs are testing the relationship between the United States and Canada, Rotary reminds us that true neighbors don’t turn away from one another… they reach across borders in friendship and service.

Today, as new tariffs and counter-tariffs create tension between the U.S. and Canada, we’re reminded the relationship between our two countries is too important to be measured only in trade figures or policy disputes. These decisions affect real people – workers, business owners, families, farmers, manufacturers, and border communities on both sides.

That’s where Rotary – and especially our District 6400 – offers such a powerful example. Rotary teaches us that even in difficult times, we can choose cooperation over division. Whether through service projects, fellowship, peace initiatives, and cross-border partnerships, Rotarians in the United States and Canada continue to build trust, understanding, and goodwill.

Rotary reminds us that borders may define countries, but compassion connects communities. It helps us see one another not as opponents in an economic disagreement, but as neighbors and partners who share history, values, challenges, and hopes for the future.

So as policies change and tensions rise or fall, let us hold firmly to what must not change: trust, respect, service, and neighborly cooperation. Every shared project, every handshake across the border, and every act of service is a small but powerful step toward peace, understanding, and the continued lasting friendship between our nations.

Yours in Service,

Peter

District Governor's Golf Outing

What a great time at the District Governor's golf outing.  Trenton Rotary was well represented with 3 teams. Thank you to Bill Jasman, Joe McCormick, Larry Kearney, Rob Bovitz, Bob Paulbeck, Mark Angellotti, Rose Angela Gronda, Joanie Barnett, Bill Kaiser, Bambang Soedarjatno, Jeff Kaiser and Ronnie & Bill Ruelle for participating.  Bill Ruelle was extremely happy winning the 50/50 raffle.
