Supporting our community’s first responders is a meaningful way to live out Rotary’s commitment to “service above self.” Our firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical personnel are here for our neighbors at all hours, responding to fires and medical emergencies, helping families after accidents, and guiding residents through severe weather and other difficult moments. As a club, we have many thoughtful ways to show our appreciation. One is simply to listen and learn.
Today, we’re pleased to welcome Trenton Fire Chief Keith Anderson, who will share more about the department’s work and current needs.
There are also simple ways each of us might offer support personally. A warm thank-you, a note of appreciation to the station, or a blood donation can mean a great deal. We might also consider learning CPR and basic first aid, keeping an emergency kit at home and in the car, and checking that our smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms are working.
And, as always, our example may gently encourage family, friends, and neighbors to find their own ways to show support.
These small gestures of care can help first responders feel appreciated while helping our community remain prepared, safe, and connected.
Yours in Service,
Peter
