2019 - 2020 Rotary Citation with Platinum Presidential Distinction
Congratulations Trenton Rotarians!
I am excited to announce that, due to the outstanding efforts our club put forth last year, the Trenton Rotary Club has been awarded the 2019 - 2020 Rotary Citation with Platinum Presidential Distinction! This is the highest level of distinction that a club can earn.
In order to earn the Rotary Citation, a club has to be well rounded in all areas of Rotary. We had to achieve at least five goals in Rotary International's "Unite People" category. This includes having an active membership committee, maintaining and engaging our members, and being involved with students through Rotaract and the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. We also had to achieve at least five goals in Rotary's "Take Action" category. This includes our efforts to support the Rotary Foundation, our contributions toward the effort to eradicate Polio, and our involvement in significant local, national and international service projects.
In order to earn Platinum Presidential Distinction, we had to achieve goals in the areas of "Connect Families," "Connect Professionally" and "Connect Community." This means our club's projects had to be meaningful for our members, our families and our community.
I am proud of our club and all of its efforts and I want to thank each and every one of you for all that you do. A special thanks goes to Ronnie Ruelle for keeping me on task with this, and Bill Jasman for doing an AWESOME job of updating Rotary International with our club's activities and achievements.
Keep up the good work, Trenton Rotary! As Rotary opens opportunities, continue to be a hero by taking action locally, nationally, and globally.

Ronnie Ruelle
Since many Rotarians already know me, I thought I would share some little known tidbits.
The oldest of 7 children. (Mom had 7 kids in 10 years, before the age of 30. I was changing diapers at the age of 5 - cloth diapers with safety pins, no disposables in those days)
Was named after the Archie comic books. Mom (19 years old) loved the name Ronnie. (If a boy I would have been named Jughead)
Grew up in Dearborn Hts, but was bussed into Detroit for High School. (Holy Redeemer HS)
Had perfect attendance from 6th grade through 12th grade. (This explains why perfect attendance for Rotary is important)
Went to college to become an executive secretary. (Typing and shorthand were not a strength)
Went back to college to become a draftsperson. (Struggled with arrow heads on the drawings)
Did a commercial for Vic Tanny at the age 19. (Was replaced by Farrah Fawcett in the next commercial)
Got married and was a stay at home mom until I was 33. I went to work at a bank where I was hired as a pt teller. (Became a Regional Manager 7 years later - 28 years ago.}
Rode in a Pace Car during the Grand Prix. (Did you know that all Pace car drivers are women.)
Met Sylvester Stallone when he was filming Driven in Detroit. (He is really short)
Joined Rotary 18 years ago after talking to Mike McCullough at the Trenton Athletic Club. Was President 2014-2015.
Current state: Married to Bill and love going up north to our cabin. Have 2 sons, Charlie and Bob and 4 grandchildren. Chair of the Board for the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber. Living life to the fullest and making every minute count.

Jennifer E. Jones
Jennifer E. Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, has been nominated to become Rotary International’s president for 2022-23, a groundbreaking selection that will make her the first woman to hold that office in the organization’s 115-year history.
Jones will officially become president-nominee on 1 October if no other candidates challenge her.
Jones says she sees Rotary’s Action Plan as a catalyst for increasing Rotary’s impact.
“As we reflect upon our new strategic priorities, we could have never envisioned that our ability to adapt would become our North Star during what is inarguably the most profound time in recent history,” Jones said in her vision statement. “Silver linings rise out of the most challenging circumstances. Using metric-driven goals, I will harness this historic landscape to innovate, educate, and communicate opportunities that reflect today’s reality.”
As the first woman to be nominated to be president, Jones understands how important it is to follow through on Rotary’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Statement. “I believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion … begins at the top and for us to realize growth in female membership and members under the age of forty — these demographics need to see their own reflection in leadership,” Jones said. “I will champion double-digit growth in both categories while never losing sight of our entire family.”
Jones is founder and president of Media Street Productions Inc., an award-winning media company in Windsor. She was chair of the board of governors of the University of Windsor and chair of the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce. She has been recognized for her service with the YMCA Peace Medallion, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and Wayne State University’s Peacemaker of the Year Award, a first for a Canadian. Jones holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.).
A current Rotary Foundation trustee, Jones has been a Rotary member since 1997 and has served Rotary as RI vice president, director, training leader, committee chair, moderator, and district governor. She played a lead role in Rotary’s rebranding effort by serving as chair of the Strengthening Rotary’s Advisory Group. She is the co-chair of the End Polio Now Countdown to History Campaign Committee, which aims to raise $150 million for polio eradication efforts.
Jones recently led the successful #RotaryResponds telethon, which raised critical funds for COVID-19 relief and was viewed by more than 65,000. Jones has also received Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service. She and her husband, Nick Krayacich, are members of The Rotary Foundation’s Arch Klumph Society, Paul Harris Society, and the Bequest Society.
