President's Report - 

Greeter: Cindy Nolan was thanked for being today's greeter and providing a variety of treats.

Invocation: Karen Osbrey

Kathy welcomed Richard and Kathy Naumann who are visiting us from Florida/Germany! They continue to be contributing members of our club from wherever in the world they may be! 

We will have a club assembly on December 9

Missy announced that games can be dropped of at Generations on M-F from 9:00-5:00.

We will NOT have a meeting on November 26, December 23, and December 30!

We will presenting our scholarship awards to our award recipients from May on December 30th.  

Our Holiday party is scheduled for December 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Courthouse Bar and Grill.  Family members are welcome to attend.  Cost is $38/per person. The menu will consist of hearty apps and dessert.  Please sign up by emailing Linda Lemmon at ptcrier@gmail.com.

We will be having a special meeting on December 16th and it will be a working, fun, meeting implementing our “Boots on the Ground” program.  We will be putting together packets for mental health awareness and health.

We have speakers scheduled for the remainder of the year!!! Great job Crystal and Maddie!

Secretary's Report:  Emily reminded members that the sign up lists for the second half of the year are posted and that we need greeters for January and February.

Holiday Giving:  Please see President's report above. 

Daily Bread Thanksgiving Deliveries: Karen reported that she has a great number of volunteers who will be delivering turkeys and fixings for those who need them to prepare their holiday dinner.  If any one would like to be involved, please let Karen know.

Interact: Roberta sent out flyers for the Interact fundraiser for the club's Heifer International project. Chocolate cookies from the Arc will be sold in tins for $20.00.  The Interact club will receive $5.00 per tin sold.  All orders must be in by December 5.  Please contact Roberta if you need more info.  You may pay with case, check, or venmo. The Interact club is preparing for Bell Ringing again!  

Scholarship: Rachael reminded everyone that they are invited to attend our second annual scholarship presentation night.  All scholarship recipients will be in attendance with their families.  We are also pleased that Maureen Beaulac, Denise Archambault, and members of the John O'Brien family will be available to present the named scholarships!

Rotary Park: Karen announced that Gary Rawson from Riverview Landscape offered to donate all plants that were not sold during the season to us for Rotary Park.  Karen picked up the plants and planted them this past weekend! Thank Gary if you see him!!!

 
Program:   
We were pleased to welcome our District Governor April Beston.  DG April highlighted the following initiatives for her year:
  1. Satellite/Companion club development.  These are clubs that may not meet weekly, but focus on a specific project or interest.
  2. Membership: Always be on the lookout for people who have a “heart for service” and invite them to a meeting.
  3. Marketing packets are being developed to assist clubs on getting the word out because Rotary is still a “secret” to the general public.
  4. She encourages the club to learn more and participate in the Polio Plus Society that asks members to donate $100 per year to help eradicate this disease.  We are now working in Pakistan again, and encouraged that we can see great results in that country.
DG April presented five Avenue of Service Awards to the following individuals:

  4. Barry Shead - Club Service
  5. Richard Naumann - International Service
Assistant Governor Bill Hall also spoke.  He was ADG for six years, but stepped down a few years ago when his wife was ill.  He is happy to be back and we are happy to have him back!

Happy Dollars:

Barry happy that he was able to see the Glen Miller Orchestra at Mechanics Hall in Boston.  He bought CD's and only afterwards realized he doesn't have a CD player!!!
 
Maddie and her family went to the Ice Cream Museum in Boston where she tried the Lobster Ice cream that she described as “interesting”.
 
Bob Fournier ran into Rocky Wagner and Paul Pikora who both send greetings to the club.
 
Kathy K. was happy to have DG April, Biil Hall, and Rosemarie here today.
 
Rachael announced that she will be having a third grandchild !!
 
Marc Archambault has 2 tickets to the UCONN men's game this week, that he cannot use.  Let him know if you are interested.
 
Gary is happy to see our DG, and especially Bill Hall who he has worked with in the past and who we are glad is back as the ADG! He also told an amusing story about John O'Brien.  
 
Doug and Gail attended a Div.I Volleyball game - as Gail is a big college sports fan!  He also experienced a ‘dust storm’ in CA  that was frightening and he was thankful that he was named to the Putnam High Wall of Honor.

The Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings: Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

These principles have been developed over the years to provide Rotarians with a strong, common purpose and direction. They serve as a foundation for our relationships with each other and the action we take in the world.
