Secretary's Report

Looking for more people to sign up as greeters. An email will be sent out with the link to sign up or you can click on the link above.

Presidents Report:

There will be a board meeting today to review end of year financials.

Membership: Looking to have all members sign up for either the Recruitment Committee or the Retention Committee. Sign-up sheet was passed around once again with hopes of 100% participation. Hoping members can stay after next week's meeting for approx. 10 minutes to discuss.

Andy sent the "Implicit Bias" training material and Amanda will send it out to everyone in an email.

Next meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 15th.

Committee Reports:

Foundation - Joe reported that the Foundation met on July 20th at the Osbrey residence. The Foundation meets 4 times per year and it's purpose is that it is a receptacle for funds that are used towards scholarships. Initially, the Foundation had $80k in CD's and accounts and after a $340k gift from Brousseau's, the Foundation hired a portfolio manager - Weiss, Hale and Zahansky. The policy is to spend 4% which goes towards Rotary scholarships. The Board of Directors is made up of past Club Presidents and they are in place to oversee the funds and to make sure the funds are handled appropriately. Current memorial scholarships restricted balances are: Ray Brousseau $41,596; John O'Brien $48,604; Leon Archambault $73,024; Maurice Beaulac $88,755; and Ray & Vi Brousseau $326,413.

Roberta reported that Interact is helping TEEG with their backpack drive. Interact is collecting new backpacks until Aug. 14 (bring donations to HaleY) and on Aug. 19th Interact will be helping students to pick out and fill their backpacks at TEEG. Robert also announced that Interact is selling 8" mums from Hart's Greenhouse & Florist LLC for $10 ea. to benefit Relay for Life. An email will be sent out in ClubRunner.

Summer Picnic - Doug reported that the summer picnic, held at his house will be on Friday, Aug. 25th from 5 to 7pm. A sign up sheet will be passed around for attendance. He will be reaching out to the committee for planning.

Ron wanted to thank those who have purchased Pluck-a-Duck raffle tickets. Today is last day to buy tickets. He has a few left to sell for $5 each.

Karen was happy to announce that we are receiving a district grant for more musical instruments that will be installed at the Pomfret Community School.

Programs-

Kaelyn Tremblay and Abby Converse joined us today to talk about RYLA. They had so much fun and it was a great experience, especially meeting new people. They did lots of cool activities that were challenging and required teamwork and trust in other participants that they had just met. There were motivational speakers talking about how to be a leader and workshops to solve world problems such as climate change. Both agreed that it was a positive and fun experience.

Raffle & Cookies

Jenn Brytowski's ticket won the $10 but she did not pull the 3 of spades. Her $10 went to the Archambault Scholarship Fund. Linda Lemmon won the cookies!

Jonathan is happy to be here along with Abby and Kaelyn.

Richard is extremely happy and proud of his wife, Kathy who is now a doctor, earning her PhD.

Karen is happy that Doug has agreed to host the picnic this year.

Amanda is happy because her family expanded this weekend with a new 9 week old puppy named Miles.

Marc is happy for his Dad's birthday today and gave $100 to the Archambault scholarship fund.

Pam is happy for her vacation to Alaska with her sister-in-law, her granddaughter's birthday on Thursday and she is excited that Abby and Kaelyn are here to talk about RYLA. Abby's dad Tom is an original Interact member who in his senior year of high school was Interact President.

Jay is happy for being able to attend today's meeting after being very sick from a tick bite.

Doug is happy for having a great weekend at the Pan Mass Challenge riding 16-17 mph while Seth averaged over 20 mph. He is also happy for have a great weekend with family.

Roberta is happy that her son-in-law did the 24-hour bike ride/relay around Mt. Washington (7 laps of 9.5 miles each lap) and her grandson did the kid's race.
