Secretary's Report

Martha reported that there was no correspondence this week.

Presidents Report:

Doug filled in for Amanda who was on vacation.

New Member Orientation will be on Tuesday, April 23rd at noon at the Hale YMCA for all the new members and members who want to learn more about Rotary. Lunch will be provided and an email will be sent out on this shortly. There will be a committee meeting next week, after our regular meeting.

Doug's statistics this week:

Regarding the rule of 85: This is an old, and soft rule where a member is considered a senior active and exempt from attendance requirements. It is calculated by adding a member's age and the number of years that they have been a Rotarian that totals 85 or more. 16% of of our club membership is under the rule of 85 with 10 members having a number of over 100.

Committee Reports:

2/20 Raffle Tickets - 2/20 tickets sales are going well. If you need more, please reach out to Karen. Deadline to sell tickets is May 6th. Drawing will be held on May 7th. Our goal is to sell at least 700 tickets.

Scholarship Committee - Rachael said that we have 18 applicants for scholarships and will report in June as to who has been selected.

Golf Committee: Tournament is May 31st. We are in need of Tee Sponsors. Please spread the word and if you have anyone that you know of that might be interested in a sponsorship, please let Shawn or Jonathan know. Still looking for more major sponsors as well.

Fishing Derby -The committee for this event will meet following our club meeting. .

Interact Club: Roberta and her students sold $1760 worth of Krispy Kreme donuts.

They are closer to their goal of $3000 to purchase the solar suitcase.

Relay for Life Interact Clothing Drive. Collecting gently used clothes, linens, belts, curtains and shoes. This is the last week. You can bring items in a 13 gallon garbage bag to WINY.

Relay for Life is scheduled for June 1 and the Interact team will once again be one of the top teams.

Interact continue their community Garden work with TEEG. The are assisting with the fencing, composter, and will be helping with soil preparation and planting.

Rotary Day of Service - Will be on Saturday, May 18th at Rotary Park.

Programs-

Rev. Ross presented the club with information about a new program through the United Faith Methodist Church called "JUST a place to go". It is a day shelter program where people can feel welcome to take a shower, wash their clothes, try on a new outfit, charge electronics, get food, warm up etc. They are looking for volunteers for Mondays from 10:00 - 2:00. Volunteers will be asked to staff the program one day per month.

Eric Levesque gave a presentation on the fundraiser for the Solar Suitcase, the Relay for Life fundraisers, the TEEG community Garden Project and the clothing collection drive for Relay,

Raffle and cookies

Martha Paquette did not pull the 3 of spades and gave $10 to Archambault Scholarship.

There were no cookies to raffle today.

Happy Dollars

Jonathan is happy because his daughter received her driver's license and also scored a goal for WA in their lacrosse game against NFA.

Linda Lemmon gave a happy dollar in memory of Ben Morgan who loved it when stink weed appeared in the spring. Stink weed has appeared!

Roberta is happy to have Eric Levesque with her today and reported that Eric won the VFW award for his essay on America!

Jay Wade gave happy dollars but for the life of me I can't remember why?

Dick Loomis is happy for his collection of $56.00 as part of his role as greeter and will add to it to donate $75,00 to Daily Bread!

Gary had a happy dollar for Rev. Ross and the work that he is dong at the Living Faith Methodist Church. He is also proud of the work of the Interact Club..
