The Putnam Rotary Club experienced an in-depth look into what great things young people are doing today ---and the leadership skills they’re building.
Local students who attended RYLA spoke at the July 21 Putnam Rotary Club meeting and described their experiences. RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, an intensive leadership training program for young people. It is organized locally by Rotary International clubs and districts.
Local students who attended the program in Springfield included: Caleb LaFrance, Lilah Ledogar, Ayden Perry, Landon Perry, Colby Plouffe, Jaydin Sevigne and Kristina Nieminen.
But that wasn’t all. Two students who attended the World Affairs program in Wisconsin also described their experiences. Dylan Axtell and Maddison Carlson learned a lot during the intense program with team and leadership building. They also gained problem solving skills.
But that wasn’t all. The Putnam Rotary Club’s Interact Club co-presidents, Calleigh Levesque and Mabel Perreault, gave Rotarians a rundown on their goals for this year.
One of the early projects still going on is the Interact Club’s collection of backpacks and school supplies for TEEG. Donations can be dropped off the Hale YMCA Youth and Family Center in Putnam until Aug. 13 or you can drop off the supplies directly to TEEG at 15 Thatcher St., N. Grosvenordale.
