Local Boy Scout, Nathan Gibbs, was presented a check for his Boy Scout Troop, in recognition for their hard work during our 2019 Brewfest.
From the Town of Parker, Sue Radcliff, Court Administrator, and Carolyn Sheridan, Teen Court Coordinator, spoke about Parker's Teen Court. Started in 2005, it was the first Teen Court in Douglas County. "Teen Court is a community-based intervention/prevention program designed to provide an alternative response to the juvenile justice system for first-time, nonviolent, misdemeanor juvenile offenders, in which community youth determine appropriate sanctions for the offender. The program holds youth offenders accountable and provides educational services to offenders and youth volunteers in an effort to promote long-term behavioral change that leads to enhanced public safety." They saw 60 cases last year, and their recidivism rate is less than 2%.
