Monthly Movie - 7 Days in Entebbe

Posted on Apr 24, 2018
In July 1976, four terrorists hijack an Air France flight from Tel-Aviv to Paris and force the flight crew to land in Entebbe, Uganda. There, the Jewish passengers are held hostage, with their safety contingent on the release of dozens of terrorists jailed in Israel, Germany and Sweden. After considerable debate, the Israeli government employs the Israeli Defense Forces to execute a daring rescue.

Congratulations! New Interact Club of Angel High School, Namasuba!

Dear Club President Gorettie Kyeyune,

Congratulations on sponsoring the Interact Club of Angel High School, Namasuba!

To help you celebrate with your Interact club, we’ve attached your official Certificate of Organization.

Please print and sign the certificate to present to your Interact club at your chartering celebration, joint meeting, or another special event. Create your own customized identification cards for Interact club members with our Interact membership card template. Print them from home together with your Certificate of Organization, or order them from one of Rotary’s licensed vendors when you purchase club banners, member pins, or other items for your club.

As a sponsor Rotary club, it’s your responsibility to keep the connection between Interact and Rotary strong.

There is not currently an Interact Advisor registered to support this club. We would recommend that one is found and that they register their details through our online form. In order to access and update club and membership information online, we recommend that all Interact Advisers create a My Rotary account – see “How to create a My Rotary account” information sheet attached.

Then, discover all the ways you can support your Interact club and share this guide with your club’s Interact team, your Interact Adviser, and your Interact club leadership. This guide tells you all about World Interact Week, the Presidential Citation for Interact Clubs, and our annual Interact Video Award. It also includes Rotary policies on youth protection, travel, and reporting requirements that you need to know.

We wish you, your fellow Rotarians, and new Interact members much success as you work together to inspire positive change in your community.

Kind regards,

Hannah

As part of the RC Kiwatule’s tradition, the sitting President hosts a Medical outreach Camp at his / her village. It’s no wonder, therefore, that President Florence whose village is Nakyessanja – Kawanda, successfully spearheaded the Medical Outreach Camp on Saturday April 5, 2014.

And to crown it all, she plans to have a state-of-the-art library as the legacy of her Presidency, to the natives of Nakyessanja...

How to facilitate effective meetings

MEETING ETIQUETTE

Adherence to the proper etiquette for a business meeting establishes respect among meeting participants, helps the meeting begin and end on time, and fosters an atmosphere of cooperation. A lack of etiquette and poor planning are two of the main reasons why many business meetings fail, according to business expert Lyndsay Swinton. Teach your employees business meeting etiquette to ensure that your business's meetings are effective

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

We have just concluded the membership development and extension month. It is time to reflect and ask ourselves what Have you invited a guest to the club during this month?

  • Have you made any effort to further your Rotary knowledge?
  • Have you actively participated in activities organized by the club and those by other clubs within your reach?
  • What have done regarding developing and extending Rotary beyond our club?

Medical outreach in Kisowera!

Friends,

The 2 day medical outreach at Kisowera Primary School and Nama Subcounty was a great success. Preliminary statistics indicate that we attended to 2,400 patients. The home hospitality at Mzee Fabiano's home was also marvelous, we dined, wined and danced but more importantly we provided urgent medical attention to the community in the true spirit of "service above self".

Cancer Run: my moment

Posted by Florence Lunkuse-Lwanga
For the last three months, we have been engaged in organising the third edition of the Rotary Cancer Run. One of the biggest lessons I learned was that giving starts from heart. It doesnt matter how much you have, as long as you appreciate the need to give. My winner was the banana vendor who from her meagre earning felt it was worthy of her to contribute to this noble cause. The twenty thousand she gave was worth a million shillings to me. That night I got more zeal to continue soliciting for more runners. Come next year, I will do exactly the same.

This month, March 2014, the Family of Rotary Directorate designated days on which club members would visit the families of the members who had recently been blessed with children. On Saturday 15th March 2014, a delegation led by PP Robert H. Kiggunddu visited Club Secretary Molly Kirungi - Rukundo and offered heartfelt congratulations upon the birth of a lovely baby boy, MARK. At this visit, wine was shared, KFC was eaten and the music deejay talents of Selector PP Fabby were revealed.

On Friday 21st March 2014, a team led by President Florence, flanked by Charter President George, Past Presidents Godfrey Semugooma and Robert Kiggundu as well as Club member Malcolm Mpamizo visited Mariah Namigadde and her family bearing good tidings of joy and congratulations on the birth of Baby KABUYE.

On Saturday 22nd March 2014, the members gathered at the home of Rtn. Paul Kagaba to congratulate him and his wife (Past Rotaractor) Ramlah Karen Kagaba on the birth of their baby girl ADELE. Here, the selector was at his best again with wonderful entertainment and sharing the joy of a new birth.

The LIONS cell at RC Kiwatule hosted a very vibrant fellowship on Wednesday 19th March 2014 where Hassan Nyangabyaki from the Bank of Uganda was speaking to the members about the features of the new generation of money notes that was released by Bank of Uganda. The presentation not only helped identify features that indicate that a bank note is fake or valid, but also explained the rationale behind some of the features which are designed to aid the blind in recognition of bank notes. Later that day, the club was treated to a 'Blast from the past' photo collection with very unflattering and also revealing photos of the club members from 20 years ago.

PAG Joel Sekabembe at the Rotary Club of Kiwatule fellowship!

To celebrate the 'Fellowship month', PAG Joel gave a presentation on the 12 aspects of Fellowship. Did you know for instance that a toast is never "given" but "proposed"? Are you aware that  'guests' are only properly introduced if their full name is given, their place of abode disclosed, what they do for a living and where they do it from  are known, whether they are married or not? Nice job PAG, we left Kabira Country Club better informed about the fellowship we'd just attended and certain that Rotary is not 'Over'!
