Members of the Rotary Club of Kiwatule on Saturday 1st August 2015 received training on effective implementation of service projects at the MUBS Library.
 
 
 
Members of the Rotary Club of Kiwatule on Saturday 1st August 2015 received training in effective implementation of service projects at the MUBS Library.
 
The club has 6 buddy groups each of whom has been tasked to develop a service project focusing on Rotary's Six Areas of Focus.
 
The Doves led by Rtn. Irene Muganga focused on Literacy & Education and presented a project to improve Learning Facilities at Ishekye Unit for the Handicapped in Sheema District, Western Uganda.
 
The Eagles led by Rtn. Sheeba Tumushabe focused on Growing Local Economies and their project was on empowering unemployed youth in Kiwatule with entrepreneurial skills and startup capital so that they can become self-employed.
 
The Flamingos led by Rtn. Goretti Nakyeyune focused on Maternal & Child Health and presented a project to improve Kamulegu Health Centre III in Masaka by constructing a placenta pit and providing delivery kits to expectant mothers.
 
The Ostriches led by Rtn. Peter Odoki focused on Providing Clean Water and presented a project to protect spting wells in Butangasi, Busia
 
The Peacocks led by Rtn. Annette Cherotich focused on Peace & Conflict Resolution and presented a project to enhance Peace & Security in Kiwatule through community engagement
 
Whilst the Sparrows led by Rtn. Flavian Zeija focused on Disease Prevention and Treatment and presented a project to improve health and sanitation in the Kiwatule area through community sensitization, provision of mosquito nets and rapid test kits
 
The above service project proposals were reviewed during the training with former District Grants Officer, Rtn. Lydia Bujara providing guidance on how the proposals can be improved. She called on members to carry out thorough community needs assessments so that the challenges faced by the communities can be addressed holistically.
 
President Anne Begumisa closed the training by calling on members to heed Rotary’s call for Service above Self by being a Gift to the Community.
 
Following the training, each cell has been tasked with filling in the gaps in their project proposals by the end of August 2015 so that the project implementation can begin as soon as possible.
