AT THE GONG: Jeff Moss, our new president gaveled the group to order at 12:15. NathanCobert led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and then read to the assembled members a quote from Winston Churchill about giving versus getting. Nathan luckily got this from Lee, and he gives his thanks.

Using a new format, Jeff Moss then welcomed those assembled and made some opening observations and comments. Then we sat and ate.

VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS: There were no visiting Rotarians or guests today.

 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Jeff called the meeting back to order at 12:30 and provided the following announcements:

To avoid the repetitive weekly announcing of meetings and fundraisers being held by organizations outside of our club, once a meeting has been announced it will be placed on our website.

Jeff received a nice thank you letter from Samantha Young, a scholarship recipient.

The Rotary Club Board meeting will be this Wednesday, 7/17 at Jeff’s office in San Rafael (35 Mitchell Blvd, Suite #6) to discuss the funding of Precious Life, among other things.

On 7/27 the Rotary Foundation will be holding a training in Pacifica for board members and anyone else interested in learning about Rotary International, Avenues of Service (both of these from 9:00 to 12:00) and Global Grant Writing training (12:00 to 2:00). Lee Page clarified that there is no cost for this event if you are registered by 7/22, which can be done on the website. Also, breakfast is included.

There was also an announcement of District level trainings for membership and for p.r on August 3 from 8:30 to 12:00 at S.F. Recology, 900 7th Street. Again, appropriate for service chairs, board members and any other interested people.

Terra Linda Rotary dues are increasing this year by $25.00, the first increase in seven years (!). This increase will go to a Rotary Foundation donation in your name.

West Marin Rotary Club will host a bar-b-que on Saturday, 7/2- in Tomales in honor of their president agreeing to lead a 3rd term. They are calling it a “re-bunking”. It should be fun. $35.00 for adults, less for kids.

Tom Martz reminded us that Rotary International has auto-draft opportunities for regular, on-going donations. Several members shared that they are signed up this way to make monthly donations in an automatic way. Tom mentioned that “miles” were available. Call Tom for more information.

The “de-bunking” meeting for Tony Engstrom will be held on July 30.

In addition, everyone thanked Trevor Henley for his wonderful photos of the Installation dinner, and all the events he attends as our professional photographer at no cost.
