AT THE GONG
The meeting started promptly at 12:23 with President Rich Benson ringing the bell.  The pledge was led by Tom Martz. After he read these words of wisdom: If you have the love of your fellow man in your hearts, my friends, you are a potential Rotarian. – Paul Harris. Rotary Quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”  “This is a changing world: We must be prepared to change with it.  The story of Rotary will have to be written again and again.

WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE CLUB

The District Governor will be visiting on 11/05/19
 
If you would like to join the San Rafael Mission Club at San Rafael Joes for Lunch 11/21/19 they will be having a great speaker on international “stuff”. Not sure who the speaker is but the “Stuff” they are going to talk about is supposed to be great. Also, San Rafael Mission Club are good bunch of Rotarians.
 
District Designated Funds Grants – All our requests were approved!  Rich will meet with each recipient to go over the forms and filings to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Extra Food Day pick up at Civic Center Farmers Market.  Meet at 12:30 p.m. on 09/22/2019
 
Bike and Hike Event sponsored by the District and San Rafael Harbor.  Point Reyes, Bear Valley Picnic Area 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday 10/05/2019. $60 for bikers, $40 hikers, $15 kids under 10. Proceeds to fund “End Polio Now.”
 
9/21 We have committed to having at least ten people help with California Coastal Cleanup at McNear’s Beach from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on 09/21/2019. The event is on our Facebook Page. 
 
Nathan brought up membership and asked what our goal was for this year. Tony told him we wanted 12 in 20 but did not remember what the 12 or the 20 stood for. Nathan Reminded us that it stands for 12 new members before the club year end on 06/30/2020.
 
Millie Anderson reminded the club about the Terra Linda Rotary Poker Night.  On 09/29/2019 starting at 5 p.m. for Dinner and Drinks and then at 6 p.m. after everyone is liquored up we start the Poker.  We need more players!!! No experience required. Fun for all, ages fourteen and up.

RAFFLE/MARBLE
Janet Hayward won the prize of a See’s Candy Gift Certificate.
Nathan Cobert drew the green or blue marble. Not sure what color it was but it wasn’t the winner.
PROGRAM SUMMARY
Covia Connections, helping seniors throughout the Bay Area. 
Well Connected is their biggest service to help keep seniors connected through phone and internet.
Market Day are mini farmers markets to provide healthy, reasonably priced food for seniors.
Rotary Home Team – Gives free basic home maintenance for seniors.
 
Rotary Home Team is a partnership between Covia Connections and Rotary to provide basic home maintenance for seniors.   Their biggest request is to change light bulbs in ceilings or replace smoke detectors. They are looking for Rotarians to join their efforts.  They currently work with 17 Rotary clubs.  Mission San Rafael has been doing this for six years.  This would be a great community service project.

Our next meeting is 9/17/19 with speaker Gary Phillips, Mayor of San Rafael.
