Service to community and world: Ladner Rotary at May Days fair
A sample range of services to the community and the world provided by the Rotary Club of Ladner and Rotary International was on display at Memorial Park for the annual Ladner Pioneer May Days fair on May 25 and 26, 2019. Laos Adopt A Village rebuilds with Ladner Rotary help
Remote villages in Luang Prabang province of the southeastern Asia nation of Laos, still struggling after extensive destruction in the Vietnam War, have been receiving education facilities and supplies and clean water for more than 10 years from a Rotary initiated program, Adopt-A-Village, started by Steve Rutledge of the Rotary Club of Whitby, Ontario. For the past five years a team of Ladner Rotary members has joined Adopt-A-Village in Laos to deliver the water filters and education supplies. -- presented by Mike Storey, Diana Cabott Nimsick, Dawn Rutledge and Chris & Penny Offer

Rotary District loses a leader
A very dear friend to many in our Rotary District 5040, Past District Governor 2017-18 Don Evans, has passed away suddenly on May 20th. While travelling in South America, with his wife, Deb, and Deb's brother Mike, Don suffered a massive coronary. District Governor Darcy Long said on behalf of more than 1,400 Rotarians in 50 clubs of our District, that so many of us individually, our District and the Rotary World have lost a monumental force.
 
Darcy says, "Don's passion for not just Rotary but our Foundation, our clubs, and us as individuals was immense. He will be dearly missed."

To create a ‘sense of place’ in Delta through murals about Ladner, Tsawwassen, Annieville, Port Guichon and Brunswick, long time Ladner Resident, Richard Mayer, CEO, Inspiration, IS Creative Inc., is proposing a collection of heritage murals which will benefit the community.
