For the 10th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation, which supports aid and development work around the world, has received the highest rating — four stars — from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S. In the most recent ratings, the Foundation earned the maximum of 100 points for demonstrating both strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. In a letter to the Foundation, Charity Navigator notes that "only 1 percent of the charities we evaluate have received at least 10 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that The Rotary Foundation outperforms other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets The Rotary Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness." The rating reflects Charity Navigator's assessment of how the Foundation uses donations, sustains its programs and services, and practices good governance and openness.
Over 650 less fortunate families and seniors throughout Delta received hampers of food for the holiday season from schools, other organizations and individuals, and through sponsors such as the Rotary Club of Ladner, which donates $1,000 a year. Organized by Deltassist for the past 30 years, the program relies on hundreds of volunteers to collect food from the community – such as breakfast cereals, tinned ham and chicken, juice, tinned hearty meals (stew), peanut butter, rice, pasta sauce, and hot chocolate -- sort it, box it and allocate to each family then load the vehicles of delivery volunteers, including Ladner Rotarians. photo: a grateful Delta resident receives two boxes full of food for the Christmas season

The way of thinking among societies throughout the world tend to be dominated by one of three "ancestral world-views" according to international development expert, Dale Albertson: Fear & Power; Shame & Honour; Wrong & Right. Societies function with all three world-views, but tend to give priority to one of them, reducing one aspect (eg fear) and increasing the other (eg power). Our "Wrong & Right" legal view of the world cannot be imposed on other societies which have a different predominant world-view in international development, peacebuilding and so on.
